They said Kyle vapor locked after leading 170 of 202.  Another race slips out of his hands

I didn't know that last nights race was tape delayed. I guess I should have expected it since it started @5:30 out here on the west coast. Hmmm wonder why they did that?

I don't think Dover has lights...so it's either tape delay it to show it in prime time, or televise it at 5

I personally stayed away from Twitter and Facebook knowing the race was tape delayed.  People shouldn't be forced not to use their social media outlets whenever they want to (and that goes both ways).

As far as the race, I thought the prediction I gave my hubby (Kyle would lead the most laps and win) was going to come true until there at the end when he claims he vapor locked and subsequently ran out of gas.  I know a lot of those guys were looking at a close finish on fuel, and I'm so disappointed that JB was one of those guys unable to get it going at the end.

I'm happy for Aric Almirola to finally have that first Truck Series win under his belt, and sitting atop the standings is a might nice place to be for BBM.  And we can't forget about Turner Motorsports with the team's first two top-5 finishes (and best finishes overall) with both James Buescher and Ricky Carmichael.

I couldn't help but notice Jennifer Jo Cobb was in the way quite a bit yesterday.  If I recall correctly, she was the driver guys were trying to avoid that brought out cautions...twice.  And then she was in the way during a race for the lead late in the going.  I'm all for trying to get going, but she (and Norm Benning) need some speed....bad.

Couldn't believe my ears this morning. Kind of tuned into the Morning Drive mid-way through their morning show and caught the middle of this little news nugget. It's believed that there was deliberate sabotage to both Austin Dillon's trucks and Kyle Busch's truck.

Heard a little bit more about it in the afternoon. While nothing has been proven yet, it's believed that the trucks were staged when a heavy rain shower came across the tracks and all personnel departed the area for cover.

Obviously we know the outcome of the #3 truck wrecking in the first three laps. Kyle's crew actually caught the loose lug nuts but reported that 3 wheels had loose lugs.

It's my opinion that this is a reprehensible act. And if it's proven that any team member form any organization committed such acts they should face an indefinite suspension from NASCAR.

CWTs director Wanye Auton was on sirus this morning doing his normal interview with TMD. According to him wheel lug torque is up to the teams to check prior to the trucks rolling off of pit road and onto the track. Basically a whatever happened has happened and it's up to the teams to police their vehicles.

I took it as NASCAR was not going to look into or conduct any type of investigation. Expect all teams to have torque wrenches doing a final torque as the driver climbs into the truck from here on out.

If I was Kyle, I might be checking my own lug nuts before I climb back into that truck...

A little late with this news but pertinent. Another blow to RMM driver Mike Skinner. Gene Nead has left / resigned / fired from RMM. Gene was doing part time work for Robby Gordon this year which Mike summarily blasted in many media interviews about being focused on getting the #5 truck back into championship form. Stacey Johnson is the intern crew chief.

Stacey has twice been a director of competition for ST motorsports and KHI for a time. Stacey was the current engineer on the 5 truck when named crew chief.

Now this is Breaking News

Taylor Malsam has been hired to drive the #10 Bruan Racing NNS car starting June 5th. Subsequently KBM will cease operations of the #56 truck for the rest of the season. KBM will focus on getting the #18 Toyota an owners championship. Right now Brian Ickler is still scheduled to drive select events with seat time being split between Johnny Benson and Kyle himself.

From Jayski:

Malsam to Nationwide; KBM shutting down #56: Kyle Busch Motorsports is designed to give up-and-coming drivers a chance to advance through the ladder system of NASCAR's top-three national touring divisions. Thus far, its mission has been accomplished as KBM officials announced that Tayler Malsam will depart the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team to accept a ride in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driving the #10 Braun Racing Toyota beginning with the June 5 Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway. This comes just two weeks after KBM driver Brian Ickler announced he would be racing in select Nationwide Series events for Roush Fenway Racing. Braun offered him a chance to move up to the Nationwide Series and we have no reason to hold him back. He's a driver, like Brian, who absorbed a lot of knowledge from myself, Rick Ren (competition director) and the rest of the guys at KBM. We support him all the way." As a result of Malsam's move to the Nationwide Series, the #56 Toyota Tundra that he drove in the first seven Camping World Truck Series events in 2010 will not participate in the remaining events this season. Kyle Busch Motorsports will now focus all of its efforts in capturing the Camping World Truck Series owner's title for the #18 Toyota Tundra, which leads the series' championship standings and will be piloted by NASCAR veteran Johnny Benson in the June 4 WinStar World Casino 400k at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The driver schedule for KBM's #18 Toyota entry at the remaining Camping World Truck Series events will be determined at a later date, as Ickler is still scheduled to compete in selected events for KBM.(Kyle Busch Motorsports PR)(6-1-2010)

I'm actually sad Kyle ended up closing the 56 team.  I can understand why he did it, but it's yet another team trying to break into the sport that has been forced to cut back.  I had high hopes when Kyle's announcement finally came after months of speculation he would start a truck team, and I sure had hoped they'd be able to succeed.  With any amount of good luck, scaling back should help cut the bills and in turn allow for a second truck for the team sometime in the future.

Austin Dillon is on the pole for tonight's race at Texas.  Boy I sure feel bad for these drivers because it is hot hot hot here right now.  My hubby and I opted out of heading to the track tonight earlier this week when we heard temps would be hovering at 100 this weekend.  Hope they get themselves well hydrated before the start of the race because it's not likely to cool down much more than to about 85-90 by race time unless it's cloudy over that way.

What a strange race that was with only 9 trucks finishing on the lead lap.  That was quite the finish between Austin Dillon and Mike Skinner...wow!

Some breaking news today from Jayski

Billy Ballew Motorsports has signed Johanna Long to drive the #15 Truck at ORP this year. She is an upcoming driver through late model series. Aric Amirola will be coaching her as she test at Gresham raceway park.

Johanna Long to make debut at ORP: Billy Ballew Motorsports announced today that Pensacola, Fla.'s Johanna Long will make her NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at O'Reilly Raceway Park on July 23. Long will drive the #15 Toyota Tundra in the AAA Insurance 200. It will be Long's first event in one of NASCAR's top-three series. Long has already collected an impressive list of racing accomplishments. At only 18 years old, she touts Late Model championships in the Blizzard Series and Gulf Coast Series from the 2009 season. Long won five of the 36 events she ran en route to her championships and captured the pole for the esteemed Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in 2009. Long also competed in two ARCA events last season. Long tested with BBM last week at Asheboro, N.C.'s Caraway Speedway. The .455-mile paved oval has similar characteristics to O'Reilly Raceway Park and helped prepare Long for the race ahead. The session was Long's first opportunity to drive a NASCAR race truck. Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 51 BBM truck, was on hand to coach Long as she navigated the track. Long will test this week at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga. Long and her 15 team will test for two days at the half-mile paved speedway. Although her schedule is not confirmed, Long anticipates racing more NCWTS events with BBM following the AAA Insurance 200 at O'Reilly Raceway Park as part of a multi-race developmental program.(Billy Ballew Motorsports PR)(6-29-2010)

KHI has announced that Ollies Bargain Outlet has signed on for several races replacing Longhorn who can no longer be on the truck.

Ollie's Bargain Outlet extends sponsorship with KHI: Kevin Harvick Inc. has announced today that Ollie's Bargain Outlet, one of America's largest retailers of closeouts, surplus and salvage merchandise, has extended their relationship with KHI and will sponsor four-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday in the inaugural Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway July 31. Ollie's Bargain Outlet's signature yellow, black and red will adorn the #33 truck along with the Harrisburg Senators, the host of the 2010 Eastern League All-Star Game. Ollie's Bargain Outlet, founded in 1982, is the area's largest retailer of closeouts, salvage and surplus merchandise.(Kevin Harvick Inc. PR)(6-29-2010)
