Does anyone know where there's any interest in old diecast these days?  I've got a bunch from 92 thru 95 that I really have no use for anymore.  Most of the drivers from that era are either TV commentators these days or are virtually unknown by the "new" generation of fans. Undecided

Yeah, excellent suggestion.  I've monitored the success of large collection auctions on Ebay off and on for a while, Smiley and there doesn't seem to be any great amount of interest there.  Thanks for the reply.  Good luck to your favorite driver in 2010.

Also an excellent suggestion for which I thank you.  I've tried Craigslist a couple of times.  Not much interest there either. I'm telling ya, it seemed like a great idea and a cool "investment" when I was buying diecast back in the early '90's.  Now it's 15 to 18 years later and it just seems dumb. Should've known. DOH!  Hope you have a good 2010 season and your favorite driver does well. Cool

I never got into the diecasts much myself, but I can tell you from my experience trying to sell some "1:1" scale collector cars that there just doesn't seem to be much interest in anything that isn't a necessity these days.  If you don't need the cash or the space immediately, hang on for a few more seasons and see if things improve.  I do think serious race fans will get nostalgic for that era very soon...

Probably sound advice.  Neither the cash nor the space is a real issue at this time.  I just notice them boxed up in the attic once in a while and wonder what I'll ever do with 'em.  Thanks for the encouragement.  Good luck to whichever team you pull for in 2010.

I know of a site where a BUNCH of guys hang out and seems they are always in the market for SOMETHING.
The place is called
http://www.randyayersmodeling.com/modelingforum/
It is a site set up exactly as this.. chat forum.

Sign in and create an account.  It is a "modeling" forum, and many folks go there to chat, show what they have built, buy and sell plastic and diecast cars, also has decals and links to other model places you might list your items. etc.
I have about 100 diecast currently,.. and here is a link to some that I have built, and learned many skills from this site.  I know you aren't interested in doing anything yourself.  BUt MANY folks are looking for a car to use as a 'base" to strip down and make into something else.  This is highly possible where people may need your discast.

Just for reference here is a few diecast I bought, and transferred into what you see there.
http://pickup-guy.tripod.com/builds/
For example.. the A.J. Foyt and Lennie Pond cars I show, used to be the #11 Holly Farms Chevy driven by Cale Yarborugh.  I just stripped them, got different decals, and painted them to the correct specs as these cars were raced.
Good luck
Chris

Another possibility is forums dedicated to the individual drivers.  Some collect only a certain driver, so you might have more luck on a baord dedicated to that person.  Make sure you check the boards' terms of service before posting, as some don't allow selling, but that's where I'd start.  Older diecasts have popped up from time to time on Kenny Wallace's official board from time to time, and the sellers usually get them sold quickly as you're appealing to a specific market.  A driver with little value on the open market may have greater value with a fan of his.

Thank you Chris and Amy for the most recent replies.  That modeling site looks like it might be promising.  I'll have to check that one out. The bulk of my stuff is 1:64, so let's hope there's some fine-scale guys out there.  Hadn't thought of working the specific driver angle, that's a good idea as well.  I understand the issue of selling on some sites.  I was very careful here in seeking suggestions, not buyers.  Chris, hope you see your driver out front a lot this year; and Amy, have a good year here at FS as well as at the track. Thanks for the welcome Ty.  I've been on this board a couple of days now and haven't been flamed or dissed yet.  That's unusual.  Seems to be a good group of people here.   I'm just happy NASCAR still has a pulse at this point.  I'm one of those slightly disenchanted fans these days, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 2010.
