Ok, these are just too good not to post.  Some of her quotes sound like they came from a beauty contestant and not a seasoned race car driver.

The first one here... how in the world can you race on the most storied track in NASCAR and not know anything about it's history?

1) ARCA is a lesser-known series that uses similar cars to NASCAR, and the annual ARCA race at Daytona is known for its spectacular and frequent crashes— something Patrick apparently just found out about.

“I recently heard that, that it’s a crashfest,” Patrick said, laughing. “And I didn’t know that. But, OK, now I do. I think that makes me just realize that I need to be smart out there.”

2) Above all, she’s being careful not to set unrealistic expectations.

“I think at the end of the day, it’d be nice to have a good result,” Patrick said. “But it’s going to probably be more off the feeling that I have and how little mistakes that I made and how comfortable with the different situations.”  From me- Huh?

3) “You walk this very fine line of being kind of more of a wimp out there, and taking their (garbage) and not doing anything about it, and also being too overly aggressive and kind of making yourself look silly by it, too,” Patrick said. “You know, I had to do it in IndyCar and I would like to think that I’ve earned all their respect out there. And it’s going to come with racing with some of these guys.”

I have a feeling that this may be a constant thread throughout the season.  By the way, I'm quite aware that if you put a mic in my face that I'd be as likely to say some dumb stuff from time to time.  Having said that, I'm still rubbing my head at this whole show.  This woman knows zero about NASCAR history.  How can one have respect from said peers when one shows no respect?  She ought to go spend a couple hours with somebody like Derrike Cope or Dick Trickle or Ernie Irvan.  They could tell her a thing or two about what racing in NASCAR means.  This is serious business and to be this cavalier about it is dangerous.  This isn't a beauty contest.  People die doing this.  By the way, I named those guys for a reason.  If Danica knew her NASCAR history she would know why.

Sorry if I sound negative.  I don't want to.  Maybe I take all of this too seriously.  I just feel there is a heritage that is being trampled upon.

Let's hope this season can mostly be about the racing and not the personalities.  God Bless America & keep all of these drivers safe.

Did anyone tell her she also needs drafting partners at Daytona?  That's not the kind of talk that makes me want to race in close quarters with her.

Or maybe she's being like the Intimidator, and just trying to mess with the competition's minds.  Cheesy

Having watched the race last night, my thoughts are that she can say what she wants - she did a good job during yesterday's ARCA race; she brought the car home in one piece and didn't let getting let getting bumped off the track by an F1-persona-non-grata keep her from rallying back to a decent finish; she even felt comfortable enough to try and improve her position late in the race. While ARCA is certainly a step down from the NW series, I didn't see anything that screamed to me that she shouldn't be racing NW next week. And hey, she obviously had fun doing it, and in today's businesslike NASCAR that was pleasant to see.

I also think Alli Owens deserves a shot in decent equipment in the NW as well, if you're looking for a decent female driver. Chrissy Wallace too, and she's already scheduled to be one of four Wallaces in next week's NW race.

Speaking of Piquet, I love the fact that nobody during the broadcast mentioned that the reason he's here in NASCAR is because he deliberately crashed his car on orders and now nobody will hire him there...

Being a Danica-hater, I wanted her to struggle (stupid media hype), but after having watched her in the ARCA race, I'm impressed.  She got into a sticky situation and managed to work her way past it.  Two thumbs up for her performance in her debut.

Ain't that the truth!
Ol' Danica doesn't let anyone push her around. She can get in another driver's face
when they done her wrong with the best of 'em.

I just hope Sports Illustrated does a NASCAR Danica swimsuit shoot this season.

Well, I watched the ARCA race for the first time yesterday, and it was only because Dannie was driving....I thought she did well...and did a hell of a job saving the car...did laugh when I think it was DW who said, she did just what she was supposed to when she was spinning out...let go of the wheel!

Her facial expressions were good to watch...at times she looked scared to death and confused!

Now that she has made her debut...the media can get back to talking strictly about JR and that gawd awful beard!! LOL   Grin

Sure, Danica passed a test yesterday not wrecking people, learned you need to earn the respect of your competitors before they go out and help you draft and made a great save.  But she was in the best equipment of any driver out there and the finish didn't surprise.  I even told my brother and nephew I wouldn't be surprised if she finished in the top 10 with that superior equipment on our way to the Bruins game.
If she drives next week in the Nationwide I wouldn't expect too much given but she did a nice job.

OK, Danica didn't wreck and finished 6th in the ARCA race.

Now let's put it in perspective.

John Wes Townley didn't wreck and finished 3rd in the ARCA race.

I'm not thrilled to see either one running in the Nationwide series...  Roll Eyes
