He should be parked for a race or 2 at least.

I agree. And his interview afterwards was so typical of him. Give a big smile and say "gosh I didn't mean for him to flip."

First off NASCAR has painted themselves into this corner by allowing the Hamlin Keso fued to go back and forth and this drivers holding each other accountable. Nascar is in a loose loose. If they don't park him they sending the message they condone this. If they come out with a huge punishment the media and fans will grill them for being hippocrite's.
Second if it had been ANYONE else besides Keso I don't think Carl would have retaliated that bad. Keso is getting a worse rap than Stremme. And it's to bad, theres talent there.
Thirdly I will refuse to purchase ANY product that Carl Edwards endorses. I'll be sending every comapny e-mails this week that are involved with him. Sorry but actions hold repercussions. I stopped buying any Mars products when they signed Kyle Busch.
But I'm in agreement with this thread heading these ARE Carl's true colors.

Well gosh. Stewart told us that a few years ago. No one but his fans though believed him.

In these days of dwindling sponsorships that oughta be encouraging to would-be sponsors.
Personally, I purchase products and services of any sponsor whether they sponsor my favorite driver or a driver I don't appreciate as a way to thank said sponsors for their participation in the sport.
If sponsors realize a decline in sales as a result of sponsoring NASCAR teams and curtail their sponsorship who will take their place? No sponsors -- no racing. All sponsors want bang for their buck. If it just fizzles, they'll take their dollars elsewhere.
Imagine a 500 mile race consisting of start & park teams with low budgets. Thirty or fewer laps and the race is over.
No sponsors to refuse to purchase products or services from because they aren't sponsored. Then what?
NASCAR will be officially dead, just like this website seems to be.
I never thought I'd see the day when days pass between new posts.
What happened?

Funny, I thought Denny Hamlin was the biggest wuss in NASCAR. Now, Carl steps up to the plate for that honor.
Scott's should market a new manure product in honor of Carl: "CHICKENSH!T"

HH Old buddy whats up?? You seem a little negative lately and in an uncharacteristic sorta bad mood. Not saying this to offend, just making an observation old freind. PM me if theres anything I can do or ya just wanna talk K?
I see both sides of this issue (a sponsor protest). I DO indeed see what you're sayin HH and I agree. The sponsors as a whole though do more than likely get more positives than negatives and thats likely why they sponsor. It IS a roll of the dice though and you can only hope that your driver represents you well.More often than not they do.
On the other hand, boycotting a sponsor is an old, yet common and effective way to get a message across. In this case "Hey, I dont like what YOUR driver Carl Edwards did!"
And YES like it or not, right or wrong that driver IS the face of that company.
A bad move, or a slip of the tongue can and does at times have serious repercussions on a company or product.
What are other options a fan has to protest??
A drivers website maybe, or a forum like this, true, but limted in its reach and effect.Signs if you attend a race maybe, but again not too effective. TV or Radio Talk shows, sure, IF you can even get on a big one to express your views.
Honestly, It really seems the only effective form of protest is where it hurts..tell the sponsor directly of your displeasure. IF enough folks do that, SOMETHING will happen I guarentee!
What you said HH can and does happen, a sponsor pulls out immediately. Particularly if the situation is especially bad or heinous.
Most often thoiugh its just a rattle the sabre time, and they tell their driver "Hey! Were not liking the feedback were getting thanks to you. Soooo... IF you want us around the next time our contract comes up you better rectify this situation ..and FAST!"
And, THAT often has the desired effect...the driver stops, or at least tones it down a good deal which is what the fan wanted to begin with.
The Fan is happy that action was taken, and more importantly (to them) the driver is behaving the way they want, and they more than likely now have a tad of respect for the company because it did something and probably retiurn as a customer because of it
I suspect DougS would maybe even take an M&M if he was offered one now that (I feel anyways) Kyle has toned down a tad and isnt winning. Doug? What say, M&M? Peanut butter one even?
Just my $.02

I think we all knew Brad was going to have some run-ins his first full season in Cup. It doesn't surprise me at all that Edwards was involved.
I agree with Doug, NASCAR is in a delicate situation. They've let feuds and retaliation go with no more that a slap on the wrist and a wink in the past, including Brad vs. Denny, because the storyline is good for ratings. Now there's been an on-track payback that was scary enough to make people realize there's more than damaged racecars and lost points at stake. They need to draw a line somewhere, and whatever they decide some fans won't be happy with it.

Ive never really bought into this Gosh and Gee shucks, Cousin Carl schtick.
Ive seen waaay to many times where Carl has had real anger issues.
Of COURSE he didnt mean for the 12 to flip like that BUT he DID want to wreck him without a doubt, and even by his own admission. HE knows first hand weird things can and do happen when you turn a car at 180+ but readily accepted the consequences., that...or he just didnt care. The ONLY thing that mattered was PAYBACK!
So,He wanted pay back (in his head anyways), he hunted him down, and he wrecked him, consequences be damned ill get my pound of flesh. By Gods grace neither Keso nor any fans were injured.
WOW, he said he was sorry that it ended up that way. Gee...I may be wrong but, Im pretty sure that wouldnt have been very comforting to a famiily member of a fan that had been hurt or killed by his inability to control his anger, intentional or not.
By your own words YOU meant to wreck him Carl...YOU got lucky the consequences ended up no worse than they did ...THIS time.
Does "road rage" ring in anyones head here? In the real world he would be in jail on attempted murder charges right now, and Im pretty darn sure his own words would be enough to find him guilty. It would not surprise me one little bit to hear of some issues out here in the real world. You just cant switch these kind oif self control issues on and off at will.
I DO know one thing...IF Im driving thru Mo. during NASCAR's off season and i see a Sherrifs car behind me Im gonna be really careful to NOT make that officer mad. Especially if that officer is Carl Edwards.
A guy with problems controlling his anger, with authority, and a gun....makes me shudder to think of the possibilities of what might happen should I offend him with some percieved slight.
I'll just say this...Carl's got some serious issues IMHO.

The worst part of Carl's action ws that it was completely unjustified. (And if anyone still thinks it was unintentional, look at the ovrhead shot again-Carl's white cloves turning to the right will tell the tale) looking at the tape of the first Atlanta incident, Kes was right ON the yellow line the entire time. He backed off a little, too, but Carl came right down on him, when the 12 clearly had position under him. Kes could have done one of two things at that point: totally back out, get run over from behind, adn trigger a multi-car wreck, or drive down onto the apron, whci might also have caused a multi-car wrech if he loses the car coming back on the banking. So Kes held his line-as he should have! He did everything he could to avoid wrecking Carl and still not wreck himself, while Carl wrecked himself of the 12 by coming down on him.
Carl can say he didn't mean to flip him all he wants. Reality is that by his actions and his alone, he DID flip him. It's impossible to predict what a car will do in that situation, and therefore, Carl did not care if he flipped the 12 or not. He did not care that his actions could have hurt a fan as easily as they hurt Brad. He knew something bad could happen, he just flat didn't care. Taking a grudge out at Martinsville is one thing-Atlanta is something else entirely. Tony called this one dead on right. Eddie Haskell ilives and breathes.

Its also the position on the track. He hit the 12 right as they are getting to the top speed on the track. Everything about the event screamed that it was a stupid idea and Eddie decided it was still what he was gonna do.
I have no respect for him at all. First, my very first race I see in person he cheats to get the win, then he puts on the fake "Aw shucks" schtick and still pulls all the crap he does, and now he's a dangerous idiot who put fans in danger.
If Nascar doesn't have the cajones to do something about this, then they've lost another fan.

Yep, NASCAR has put itself in an awkward position.... let the boys settle it themselves vs. what is sane behavior.
Carl has been a loose cannon for a long time. His run in with Harvick in the Nationwide garage and him sucker punching Kennseth on National TV both come to mind. This guy, who by his own admission had to fight tooth and nail to get a ride in the big show is now acting like an entitled golden spoon in the mouth brat. He is a two faced monster, one face to the public, smiling nice for the tv cameras; then when the tv cameras are off, he turns into the REAL Carl Edwards. Road rage for sure....what about ROID rage?
You may not like BK but he stands his ground and won't back down when others (Hamlin and Edwards) want to push him around. He knows there will be consequences for that.... but flipping the car through the air into the fence at Atlanta? Way out of line and way out of perspective.
Carl needs to be taught a lesson. This coming weekend is an off weekend, next race is Bristol. Sit the 99 team out for Bristol. Fine him 200 driver points and 200 owner points and $500K. Make him feel the pain, the consequences, of his actions. Yep, get out the big guns NASCAR, this boy has crossed the line.
