Carl Edwards updates Facebook with his side of the story
By Jay Busbee
Another season, another Carl Edwards flip drama. As soon as Edwards' collision sent Brad Keselowski flying into the Atlanta dusk on Sunday night, the screaming began -- was it intentional? Was it payback? Did Edwards realize he could've killed somebody?
Edwards took to Facebook to explain himself, and the answers were, in order, yes, yes and no. In short, Edwards himself confirmed what everybody already suspected:
My options: Considering that Brad wrecks me with no regard for anyones safety or hard work, should I: A-Keep letting him wreck me? B-Confront him after the race? C-Wait til bristol and collect other cars? or D-Take care of it now? I want to be clear that I was surprised at his flight and very relieved when he walked away. Every person has to decide what code they want to live by and hopefully this explains mine.
So there you have it. Carl Edwards likes the frontier justice.

Talk about an over reaction. This has been going on since the first race ever took place. It is nothing new. Anybody that knows much about NASCAR history can name numerous times payback was givien and this was nothing more, nothing less. The only person I recall being suspended for a race was Harvick and that was because it was several wreckless incidents over a few weeks and he was given a couple of warnings first. There may be more examples but none come to mind right now.
So NASCAR sits him down. What message does that send to the fans who NASCAR just told that they were letting the guys race. Now it becomes a judgement call. When would they sit a driver down? Every time someone hits another car on purpose? Just when the wreck is spectacular? Just when it involves a popular driver? It will be all subjective. Let them work it out on the track.
I think much of the isue was resolved. I assure you Keso will have more respect for fellow competitors if he knows what the payback might be. This was nowhere near the first incident he had with numerous other drivers in NNS and cup.

I rememberTony Stewart a couple of seasons ago.
Complaining about dangerous, bone-headed moves --- then makes
dangerous, bone-headed moves.
I'll bet Brad thinks twice before crossing Cousin Carl again.
If we're going to blame a driver for making a needed point on the track,
why not blame the driver who creates the situation in the first place?
Drivers who continually mess with other drivers deserve what they get.
NASCAR has been that way for as long as I can remember.
Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words.
If a driver won't listen to words, perhaps they'll pay attention to actions.

He is a two faced monster, one face to the public, smiling nice for the tv cameras; then when the tv cameras are off, he turns into the REAL Carl Edwards.
Well, NASCAR wanted drivers to show more personality. Carl's showing two of them.
I'll admit, when he was first coming up thru the ranks I bought into the nice guy image... then the truth started to reveal itself.

HH, I humbly disagree with you. IMO, I think the likes of Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin better think twice before messing with BK.

Well, whatever happened to option B? Drivers swinging on each other after the race... I'm kinda OK with that. Get the pit crews out of the way and let them connect with a few punches before you break it up, everyone gets it out of their system.
This whole thing with Twitter, texting and Facebook is also part of the problem IMO. Drivers need to work these things out face to face, whether it's trading punches or talking it out over a beer, or both. Somewhere along the line a phone call to the guy you got in a wreck with became SOP, and now it's down to this?

Amen!!!! All these people on here calling for Carls head are nothing but hypocrits!!!! Yeah, its all different when its YOUR driver!!!!
Get over it you bleeding hearts!!!!! Kes had had it coming for awhile and you all agree about that! If it wasn't Carl it would have been Denny who would have done it sooner or later.
Quit ur crying and get over it! Grow some stones! This is racing. Yes Carl did it on purpose. He will take his lumps and go on. You should too!

Nascar won't ever park a driver for a single incident, and before people go "THIS ISN'T the FIRST TIME!" Ooooh, what, 4 incidents over 5 years? 5? I can count 3 drivers who have that many such incidents in a season.
NASCAR is jumping for Joy. FINALLY something INTERESTING to the season. I bet Bristol's TV ratings are up, and ticket sales increase....if Bristols not a sell-out, it'll be close!
Only so much rolls off the Duck's back before it starts sinking in..."Good Guy" does not equal "Walk all over me".

Oh, and scott b? I've met Carl numerous times. Indeed, I've met his entire family (well, other than new baby Anne). Lovely people, and nicer people you will never meet. One can be a nice person, and still put your foot down when enough is enough. So before you start judging someone's character, you might actually get to KNOW that someone first.

WRONG!!!
This isn't all about who is the favorite driver. its about an escalation in retaliation. Damn straight we are talking about racing. Carl is the one who needs to grow some stones and stop expecting everyone to move out of his way.
When Tony had his "issues" and was fined by Home Depot and sent to anger management by NASCAR it made their point loud and clear. It was his wake up call and I applauded them both for doing it. Sure seems harsh at the time but it was the best thing for the situation at hand.
Carl needs a wake up call. Jack Roush sure as hell isn't going to give it to him.

I met Carl in 2005 at a fan thing at IRP (now called ORP). It was a Thursday night race, the weekend of the Brickyard 400. My husband and I both had been Carl fans until that very night. He, along with most of the other drivers racing that night made themselves available for autographs and pictures. I got up next to Carl for a picture, asked him if he won tonight would he do the back flip? Stone face he sat, didn't utter a word to ANYONE!!! THAT told me alot about the character of this man.
I may not have met him under a social situation and he may not be my best bud. But my opinion is based on what I have personally experienced and observed and for YOU to tell me otherwise..... makes YOU look foolish.
