I know I am critical of NASCAR and Brian France, but I have to give credit for the lastest changes. Talladega was one of the best races I have ever been to. It was competitive all day long and a set the record for lead changes.
Normally some of the drivers gripe about the racing on the scanner but I never heard any comments that were not positive. If this level of racing continues we could be seeing sellouts again soon.
I also think they made the right call by running the NNS race on the same day. If it were a Monday race the crowd would have been laughable. As it was about half or so stayed for most of the race. When I heard a NNS ticket would get you in for both races I expect chaos with people sitting in reserved seats. I never saw anyone have an issue.
Good job Talladega and NASCAR.

No lack of excitement on the track this past weekend.  Weather situation seemed to be handled pretty well, too.

I think fans still need to see good racing at the mile and a half tracks this summer to really be won back over, though.  When the NBA and NHL seasons wrap up (TV ratings competition) and kids get out of school for the the summer (family vacation time for travel and ticket sales at the track), NASCAR will hit an important stretch of the schedule.  If they can keep fan interest up from Memorial Day till the start of the Chase, that will be real progress.
