I'm giving this one it's own header because I think a topic that's been discussed in the Kahne to HMS is going to propagate here too.

Kevin Harvick and Richard Childress announced a multi year extension today. Most of the questions at the press conference surrounded sponsorship options for RCR since Pennzoil announced they were ending their relationship with RCR and signing with Penske racing and Kurt Busch.

Today Jayski has RCR close to signing either Budweiser or UPS.

First off I think that Budweiser will be leaving NASCAR after ponying up over a billion $1,000,000,000 to become the official beer of the NFL. I think bud would resonate better with Kevin than Kasey. Along with the Bud rumor is that Bud will go to the #33 (Bowyer) and General Mills will shift to the #29. Which I think would be an even bigger mismatch than with Bowyer now. But hey I could see Kasey Kahne eating Trix or lucky charms and selling a ton of cereal.

Even Joe Menzer who writes for NASCAR.com adresses that Bud may be leaving the sport. http://www.nascar.com/2010/news/headlines/cup/05/22/kharvick.resigns.RCR/index.html

The UPS would be interesting as I think UPS feels they got the short end of the stick with Rousch forcing them onto the #6 car. Not sure how Kevin would fit their current marketing but at least they would have more credibility with a driver of Kevin's performance.

UPS wasn't forced onto the 6 car; they chose to be there, even though other RFR drivers were having more success.  However, they are rumored to be leaving Roush and seem a likely match for Harvick-unless they choose to sign with Hendrick and the No. 24, another possibility.

I agree Bud and Kevin makes sense but also agree I think they will leave the sport.  UPS and Kevin I believe will happen.  Kevin wouldn't have signed an extension without knowing a sponsor is close.
