It's ALL about me!!

« on: May 25, 2010, 10:28:35 AM »

Anyone else snicker when they heard "ol DW" make the bold (and rather idiotic) prediction that the 48 would win the All Star??  "I guarantee it!" he proudly boasted.

I dont know about anyone else but I was never so happy during a race to see a car spin than when the 48 did. Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Grin Course we never heard DW explain away his gaurantee . I guess we were just supposed to forget that little faux pas.

I now DW is an unabashed HMS butt kisser but even I didnt think he was that dumb.

10 laps to go  AND against undoubtably the best drivers in the world AND for a MILLION DOLLARS??

Gee DW ..did you think that the 48 suddenly had 50 more hp, OR that everyone would simply pull over and let JJ bye, OR, did you forget that hard charging #2 that came from back in the field just might say "Aww forget the million dollars JJ deserves to win", OR that there were still a few othe little mentioned guys that might just try and win, that had equally fast and good handling cars that just MAYBE might try and pass the good ol 48, OR was it some insider knowledge that JJ was supposed to win the race???    Hmmm?? Shocked Even NASCAR cant control a driver crashing I guess.

Look, I have favorite drivers, and was a huge Dale Sr. fan but even I would NEVER guarentee a win. NOT Even with 1 lap to go  AND a 10 second lead.... things often can and do go wrong.... as we saw. Much to my delight!! Grin Grin

You never have looked so stupid DW...sad really from what you once were, that you are now so far up "Mr" H's hiney that you see things ONLY  a certain way..the HMS way, and now find it extremely hard if not impossible to accept the reality that NO ONE wins all the time and perfection is NOT a given for anyone, even with help.

Speaking of "Mr.' Hendrick. Maybe admitedly  its just my dislike for all things HMS ,but,  does it not seem at all strange (it grates on my nerves personally)  to anyone else that  its not just the HMS drivers and teams that now use that "Mr" term when speaking of Rick Hendrick... now we have the announcers/commentators as well saying that???

It just seems strange and almost disrespectful to all the other team owners to not call them by "Mr." does it not??

You know...Mr Childress, Mr Roush, Mr Waltrip (LOL That would be great to hear Mikey called that) ,or  Mr Stewart, Mr Gibbs, etc      Sounds rather silly to hear them called that really doesnt it??

The term "Mr" is somewhat a term of respect if Im not mistaken. Respect for an elder, a superior, a supervisor, a mentor, etc.

I know Hendrick is not elder to many of the announcers (DW especially) so what is it that makes them call ONLY him "Mr"? Respect? Is he then superior to them? Does he pay their salaries?? Is he famous? Simply a team owner?? Is it  what "Mr" Hendrick wants to be called?? What is it??

I still dont undertand though  WHY exactly announcers, etc that have no business relationship with him at all,  he isnt their boss,  he isnt even their elder in some cases , and he's certainly no different or better than any other NASCAR team owner , so,  why would  they then comply with his wishes simply because...what??

I suspect it's as simple as "Mr" is what Ricky boy wants/expects to be called! I also suspect that he thinks he IS above the others that call him that.Heck..Ill go as far as saying I honestly  think that he thinks he IS better than anyone else PERIOD.
Especially when they act like its the 2nd coming of Christ whenever "Mr"Hendrick graces us with an appearance on TV or in Victory Lane. Its rather sickening to me.

Is it not than (however silly it may sound) disrespectful to not show that very same respect to the other owners?? They are usually called simply by their first names and would more thn likely LOL if you called them "Mr" anyways.Stilll...they ARE equals.

To expect or demand such a thing simply because you have $$  takes a very small and insecure person. IMHO its someone who inside   thinks very little of themselves and is personally extremely insecure while portraying and demanding  superiority on the outside .

Respect, to me at least, is earned. He has done nothing to earn mine, and many things to not earn it.

He may have more $$ sure, but that does not make him any better than anyone else....just richer. I for one will not be calling  him "Mr" except in quotations to poke a little fun at the absurdity of it all.

In fact ...call ME Mr. Blu!

Nah...I dont need MY ego stroked! Wink

Blu.. you are a hoot... But I DO have to say I agree with you about DW...

The last two weeks I have been pointing out to my girlfriend about the way DW talks out of both sides of his mouth...
I'll throw out one thing as an example.
During the ALL star race. J Gordon brushed up against the wall pretty hard...
First thing out of DW's mouth is something to the effect "Oh Jeff;s hit the wall pretty hard,.. I'm sure he's torn up that car.. He looks like he'll be in trouble".   Well Jeff runs on for a while and seems to have little ill effects.. It's not 5 minutes later that DW says... "OH jeff just scrubbed the wall there a little.. these cars are pretty stout, I'm sure he don't have any danamge, and he'll be just fine"
SO in the span of 5 minutes he has said two directly opposing things.  THEN No matter WHAT Hapens later on... He can step back and say "I told ya so"  If Gordon was to win he has a habit of saying... "See I knew the cars were tough, and he'd be just fine"... if Gordon falls out, wrecks or runs poorly.. DW will no doubt say "I KNEW when he hit the wall over there he sure hurt that car and his day was over".

Hence I guess that is why DW can "Guarantee" his statements.. He says one thing,.. and then says something directly the opposite a little later.  If he guarantees BOTH of them... one of them is going to be right.
In all honestly JJ probably COULD of won this race,.. especially after the way he dominated the middle two segments.  DW's problem was (and what "caught" him with his guarantees was this)... He made his "guarantee".. and DW didn't have any time to "cover his ass" by guranateeing something else.  About the time DW made is 'guarantee'... JJ spun himself out.  Hence DW looks like the total idiot he is.

Everyone just sit and watch... make notes of what DW says... then sit and listen to what he says that is an opposing view... Makes a comment completely opposite of what he says originally.  I LMAO trying to see how even HE can make sense of the comments.  YOu know he didn't get the nickname "JAWS" for a reason.  Only thing that gets me is he thinks people are too STUPID to catch what he is saying thinks none of us can figure out how he talks out of bth sides of his mouth on a CONSTANT basis...
Who knows.. Maybe he IS right... maybe MOST people are a bunch of mushrooms, and just blindly go along with whatever he says without any thought.

Heck... If it's ONE it's too many...
Of course ONE was too many back when the season started at Daytona....

Larry Mac I like... (Maybe that is a personal reason though.... I got to know him and his son when I helped my friend race the Legends series,.. and Brandon was racing in a Bandelero)
Still Larry tends to state his point, and is a pretty straight shooter.  The rest of them all just a mouthpiece for NASCAR

Give Chris the prize! BINGO! I was thinking when he said that that, "Boy DW you better watch saying that... you dont have many laps left to back pedal when he doesnt win" and VOILA!

Im glad Im not the only one that hears DW say that stuff. It drives me nuts when he does that as Im thinking "WHOA Didnt i just hear you say..."
He evidently does believe we are too stupid to recall what he just said that completely contradicts an earlier statement. Roll Eyes

I like Larry Mac as well ,and he's one of the few that DON'T use the term "Mr" when talking about Ricky boy also. Wink

ONE More FOX race SJG! ONE more! Cool

DW is an idiot and always has been. I make it a point to listen to him as little as possible but I agree that he promises everything so he can't be wrong.

My favorite "DW is a jackass" moment came at talladega during his last year. I was in the garage area and he was walking around his car staring into the sky. Next to me was a gentleman and a kid who looked maybe 10 or so. I heard the man tell the child that "there is Darrell Waltrip. He is one of the greatest drivers ever." DW heard this and began to poke his chest out and strut like a rooster. He moved closer to the two and had his normal look of arrogance. The older gentleman spoke to him and said "Mr Waltrip would you please sign my grandsons hat for him?" to which DW replied with a smirk "Like that is going to happen today". My mouth dropped open and I told him he was a bigger jack ass that I thought he was to which he glared at me and walked off.
The next year he became the tv announcer. If you recall Jeff Gordon was the hottest thing going and began to put a sign on his hauler during practice that no autographs would be given during that time. DW took him to task on tv and saying "fans are what pay the bills and a driver never turns down an autograph request". I wanted so bad to call him and ask why he refused to sign a kids hat when he was doing nothing at all at the time.

As far as Rick Hendrick, he is a crook that should still be in jail for bribary. Remember he was pardoned by Bill Clinton during his last days in office. Need I say more?

Justa fan Wink     BIG thumbs up there bud!

One of the many reasons I detest anything Rick Hendrick. The man is a crook ,  a liar  , a thief   and an attention seeking BS spinning   pompous ass   IMHO.

I simply despise him. A slimeball that makes my stomach turn every time I hear his name!
Be a cold day in Hades before "St. Rick" would  ever hear "Mr" outta my mouth when referring to him.
He's more like...

Wait!  .......There is one thing id give him...

Well it is very easy to say one thing and do another and thus the case for DW and his remarks.  He figures he has a 50/50 chance to be right with his accusations.  He is truly not that fun to listen to.

OTOH...Mr. Hendrick has probably given more money to charity than I will make in my lifetime.  That says something.  Two sides to every story and every person.

Also...DW drove for Hendrick Motorsports, so possibly he refers to Mr. Hendrick as such because he was his boss and he respects him in that way.  Just a thought.

Amy I understand and appreciate Rick Hendricks charitable contributions. I think the same could be said for most every driver, owner and crew chief in the Cup garage. But that still does not change the facts. He was found guilty in court, not in the garage and fan area.
