Well, apparently that's not true: this from the 99 team PR rep on twitter:

That sure sounds like they are TESTING...not attending a driving school....

So which writer on FS.com has access to the 2010 rule book? Sound like there's a miss communication somewhere or misunderstanding of the latest written rule.

Big difference between Atlanta and America. LOL I broke my golden rule. Slow down and read carefully.

well now.. on a similar line..
I just read at Jayski that Ragan and Conway were testing at Infineon..
I read on and it says they'll be driving the Late Model cars..

I will say one thing... I know teams USED TO try and void going and doing tire tests.  (mostly because they wanted what they learned at a test session to be 'private'

With the ban on all NASCAR tracks testing,... I bet GoodYear don't have to go afr to get tire testing volunteers now.
I don't know for sure, but I am sure there is some sort of 'rotation' system used so the same teams/drivers don't do all the testing all the time

I'm not sure where, but I know it was discussed last year. From what I remember is 8 drivers / teams are invited to the test. Six are there to lay down rubber and two drivers are selected for the actual tire test. I have no idea whether or not all the teams are allowed telemetry during tire test or if it's just feedback between driver and crew chief.

Thanks for the info Doug.  What you say sounds very logical.
Seems like shortly before the cut off at Richmond last year.. there was a time of two all (Huh??) of the drivers that looked like they would make the chase were at a couple tire test.  Kinda of hard to take some that'll be in and not allow all of them.  What a nice advantage that would be.

I am just guessing... but I douobt they'd be allowed to use telemetry.. maybe more just verbal feedback, along with chekcing tire temps.  But who knows NASCAR does some crazy things.

LOL  None that I know of. We don't have enough money and the editors refuse to sanction me on a mission to "appropriate" one!  Wink Grin Cool

Well that is interesting. Consider this....could it be that NASCAR implemented the 'no testing' rule (however it reads) just to help out their long time butt buddy, Goodyear?

I mean, everyone, from the media to the fans to the drivers, wanted Goodyear's head on a platter just a couple yrs ago (or less) because of the total POS CRAPPY tires they were providing!  Perhaps it was meant, in reality, to 'save' goodyear money and goodyear's ass...thereby saving one of nascar's biggest pocket liners!  I mean, how much did goodyear pay to be the only tire allowed on the track at their last re-negotiation? And didn't that re-negotiation and the ban all take place about the same time???

The Black Helicopters are circling!!!!!
