Will one of the overdue Roush drivers hit the jackpot soon, in spite of the no testing policy?

Will it be, Kasey Kahne, who won't be in a Ford for long?

A dark horse with an upset win?

I'm hoping it's Edwards, but Kahne's probably the best bet.

I think Edwards simply based on history. He has multiple wins per season and no reason to think he can't still drive the car. The secont haf of the season should prove much better for the Fords. I don't think it is good for NASCAR to have them go a whole year winless.

That's a main reason why I voted for Kahne.  I mean, he was it Sunday...However, he isn't going to get in the chase as he is 20th and sits 174 points out...but that wasn't the question I guess... Grin

Welcome ockerkyle...

That posses an interesting question...how many Ford's make the Chase.  Right now you have Kenseth hanging onto 7th,  Biffle slipped to 10th, and Edwards is barely hanging on to 12th (only 3 ahead of Jr in 13th)  As it stands now, and the way the RFR cars are running, I'd only expect Kenseth to make the Chase.  And even if he does, how much of a chance does he really have of winning the championship this year?

I'm hoping that the Fords, especially RFR improve, and soon.

Thanks for the welcome!

With all due respect to Kenseth fans...I'd say his chances of winning a second championship this year is about as close to zero as it can get.  It's going to be close to impossible to win the championship over the likes of Johnson and Hamlin.  I don't have much faith in Edwards making the chase this year.  There are three drivers within 16 points of him.  I'd say Biffle is iffy on making the chase, but certainly not a lock...and like you said, neither is Kenseth for that matter.

I'd say it's going to take winning 3 of the 10 chase races to be the champion this year.  The teams that appear to be capable of that are the #48, the #11, and the #18.

Of the RFR teams, based on his 2008 performance, Edwards would seem to be the best hope of going on that kind of hot streak... but it has to start win one win.

After watching that race last night and it was a interesting one, I think Burton was 100% right.  Once he wins one he may win a couple and I think the RCR cars are champion teams right now.  Kahne with another nice run.
At this point I am wondering who is going to run that 9 car next year?  I know Bud is gone and they may not have sponsorship but that 9 car has been bad fast lately.  Is Kahne really going to be in the 09 next year?

The #9 has looked good lately, but that organization overall has a lot blanks to fill in for 2011 as far as drivers and sponsors, and there's still a lot of skepticism over Boston Ventures' wheeling and dealing.  That's a team that could continue to build momentum, or just as easily implode very quickly.  Kind of risky for whoever signs on to drive, IMO.

As far as who will make the chase this year..
I think I'd have to agree with the TNT announcers statement this weekend..
The 12 in the chase will be the same 12 it is right now..

The guys in the top 13 have been the most consistent finishers week in and week out. (outside of an occasional mechanical failure)
The Roush guys are going about things very quietly.  Not many chances to win,.. but consistently running in the top 15.
The 13th guy on back hasn't shown the consistency week in and week out to get into the top 12 and stay there.
ONly way I see the top 12 changing is if one of the top 12 has back luck about 3 weeks in a row,.. and someone from 13th on down gets on fire.
We have Indy and Pocono coming up.. and I'd look for the same guys who ran well at Pocono before to run well there again and at Indy.   Those are mostly all guys already in the chase.
IMO it'll be pretty much the same story for Watkins Glen.
Thats 3 of the 7 races remaining... so boost up these guys already in the top 12 in those,.. and that just leaves 4 races for those outside to catch up..
The next race is Michigan... which is still pretty much a "Ford" track which helps the Roush teams.  That should pretty much wrap up the top 12...
Not saying the points won't stay 'close'.. but just I think nothing is going to change.

RCR is SO good this year ONLY because they all missed the chase LAST year.  They spent the 10 races during the chase doing R & D and had a big leg up on everyone else at the start of the season.  It has been showing all season.
IMO I think Johnson is the man to beat again..

Kasey Kahne. And I think he's in a better spot at RPM instead of where he's going - at least until Gordon or Earnhardt, Jr. leaves.

I'm beginning to think it'll probably be Carl Edwards..
He'll just crash the rest of the field..
