According to the preliminary entry lists posted on Jayski, there are only 41 entered for the NNS race at Watkins Glen, and only 34 trucks entered for the CWTS race at Nashville.

NASCAR will come up with some money somewhere (poor things they are just getting by financially)...
anyway.. they'll pay SOMEONE to show up and start and park so they have a full field in both races.
Speaking of short fields..
I agree 100% that NASCAR should cut out the mass of CUP drivers dropping down into the NNS and CWTS series.
All us "old timers" said and agreed on here when it first started happening, it was just wrong, and would lead to way to many CUP drivers racing in the lower divisions,.. cutting lesser funder team out entirely..
Well here we are, and thats where we are at.
NOW NASCAR has painted themselves into a corner by letting this happen for so long that if they now make cutbacks (more than just lip service) the lower series will probably have short fields for a long time because many
smaller
teams have closed up shop because they couldn't compete with all the MAJOR teams racing in the lower divisions.
This was established to be a feeder series... and NASCAR ran all the small fish out of the pond. I see problems for these series.. either they have short fields.. or they'll have more start and parks than ever before. NASCAR has brought this all on themselves by previous acts to try and line their pockets even further than they were.

No doubt there will be a fulll field. From what I understand if they do not have a full field penalties result from the tv network. I am sure it will be less expensive to "encourage" Roush, Hendrick, KHI or another team to field an extra car.

Yeah... the "penalties" are that NASCAR only gets
1/2
of the TV money they are contracted for.. so yeah
MUCH
cheaper to pay some extra teams to show up, and make
millions
extra from TV money

There were only 34 early in the week last week for trucks at Pocono....they'll get enough teams out there even if a third of the field is S&P.

Totally agree that this is the long term result of teams being priced out of the market, especially in the NNS! Find a way to lower the cost of those two series, and the fields would be full and then some, as they used to be! I remember NNS races where 50 cars showed up.
But alas, NASCAR will probably "find" someone to S&P and hide their collective head in the sand, like usual.

Ring, ring...
"Hello"
"Hi, could I speak to Jeremy Mayfield?"
"Yeah, this is him."
"Hey, this is Brian France, could you do me a little favor?"
Click!
"Hello? Hello?... hmm, dang cell phone must have dropped the call."

Funny Scott. Made me think about who a few others NASCAR could call. They could bring back everybody they pushed out of the sport due to drug issues and call it "Race for Rehab". They might even get a tax break for helping these guys to be productive citizens.

Just remember, Curtis Turner was banned for life for being a union organizer... till the manufacturer boycotts of 1965 and 1966 started wearing on the fans, and NASCAR needed a little boost.
I was going to use Carl Long, but he's actually entered in the Truck race... just as a driver, not fielding his own team.

I see NASCAR "convinced" some NNS guys to show up and fill the field.... had exactly 43 starters.
Tonight I see they only had 35 for the CWTS race.. so they were short..
On an off subject.. I was glad to see Johanna Long run so well her first race, and qualified 16th for tonight. Too Bad she got took out so early.
Shes a great little race car driver.... Could be the next 'REAL" female that can compete with the guys down the line.. and not just be all about 'media"
