Where will Allgaier wind up next year?

The only NW regular to win a race this year, and sitting 4th in NW points (behind Kes, Carl and KyBu), and looks like he's looking for a job for 2011...
from Jayski:
•Allgaier out at Penske? Looking for ride?: Sources tell Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody that Verizon will not return to Penske Racing as sponsors of Justin Allgaier's NASCAR Nationwide Series Dodges in 2011 and that Allgaier has been told he is free to seek employment with other teams next season. Verizon will reportedly remain with Penske Racing next season, increasing its level of involvement with the team's IndyCar program. "It's true that they're evaluating their NASCAR investment right now," said Penske Racing Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jonathan Gibson, "and it's true that they may increase their involvement with our IndyCar program." Gibson said the team is talking with other companies about potentially replacing Verizon next season, adding, "Our intent to continue with two Nationwide Series entries next season." He declined to comment on reports that Algaier has been given permission to look elsewhere, but called him, "A great young driver who we would like to keep in our organization." Gibson said Verizon has had "issues surrounding their ability to activate the sponsorship in light of Sprint's involvement in the sport. Verizon has been hindered in what they can do," he said. "They can't do much (at the tracks) and they can't do anything with Sprint Cup Series drivers, which is difficult. They've been very creative in what they have done, and they would like to do more. It's not the perfect world they'd like to play in, but Sprint obviously does a lot for the sport, so it is what it is."(Sirius Speedway) supposedly Verizon also sponsored the #12 Dodge of Brad Keselowski in the Sprint Cup Series, but only in color and design, no Verizon decals were allowed to be displayed, with the decals saying Penske instead. AAA, Dodge and other sponsors have also sponsored the car.(9-14-2010)

Yeah..
interesting stuff here. I can see Verizon taking it money and doing something else with it. Clearly Sprint gets TONS more exposure, and frankly IMO I think NASCAR would rather see them get out.
SO to keep that team going.. Penske would have to come up with a driver that came with it's own sponsor..
John Wes has a solid sponsor in Zaxby's. He;s done a MUCH better job the second time around at RAB. No crashes, and most finishes in the 17 to 24 range. IMO I think he's been moved along to quick.. should of had more time in the CWTS. But if he is going to race in the NNS, Penske could be a good place,..

If I were Sam Hornish, I'd be down at the copy center with my resume. Just sayin'...
Justin looks ready to be Cup ROTY for 2011, and if Penske is smart he'll make the switch.

Well, if Verizon wants to increase their involvement with Penske in the IRL, maybe Sam will head back there.....

Yeah, both Sam & Penske have denied that rumor so many times I'm starting to believe it must be true.

It's a shame Verizon is verboten as a sponsor in Cup. If Justin does leave Penske, the pickings are slim.
With the Kasey Kahne drama over, the Cup silly season is pretty much settled except for the field filler rides. And Nationwide, well, full-time rides are rare over there these days. If he ends up sharing a NW ride with a Cup driver, he'll be missing out on seat time, though it might be a decent quality ride.

My gut tells me Penske on the side has told Justin to hang on because Sam is out the door. Justin is an up and comer and everyone knows that and you would think we would have heard all these teams knocking on his door. But I think they know Roger has this kid locked down.

Penske also has another good prospect coming up through the ranks in Parker Kligerman. Ideally, if they could keep both Justin and Parker in the organization, what a nice foundation that would be. But it would all hinge on finding sponsorship for four Cup teams (Kurt, Keso, Justin and Parker).

followup...from Jayski
Townley's future uncertain: John Wes Townley is no longer with RAB Racing, but don't ask his former team owner Robby Benton why. Benton has no idea, saying he was "baffled" by a sudden turn of events that led to Townley's departure from the team. The future of the Zaxby's-sponsored driver in NASCAR is unknown. "I don't have any explanation or reason why John Wes is not still in our car," Benton said Saturday at Dover. "We had an agreement to run the rest of the year, and they decided for whatever reason to not honor that agreement." Townley was with the team for a test day at Richmond two weeks ago and planned to run the Richmond Nationwide Series race the following night. Because the son of Zaxby's co-founder Tony Townley is also taking college courses near the family's Georgia home, John Wes returned to Georgia that evening to participate in a night class. The expectation was that Townley would return the following day and drive in the Richmond race. Instead, Benton received a call from Tony Townley at 5:30 a.m. the next morning saying John Wes was ill and would not be able to participate in the race. Benton tapped Landon Cassill as a replacement, but it was expected Townley would return to the team and finish out the season. That didn't happen. Benton was instead notified by an e-mail from Tony Townley that Zaxby's was discontinuing its relationship with the team, citing poor performance. Benton said he's completely in the dark as to whether Townley plans to return to NASCAR (attempts to reach Townley for this story have not been successful). All of Townley's seats, helmets and firesuits are still at the RAB Racing shop. "All communications have been severed," Benton said. "They won't return e-mails, texts, phone calls. I have no idea. I haven't heard any rumors."(SB Nation)(9-25-2010)

yeah.. I saw that.
Us "Townleys" are having our family reunion this coming weekend. Maybe Tony and John Wes will be there and I can find out something.
Of course if they would like it to be private I'll respect that...
Since it seems they are having no contact with RAB... I doubt I'd get any info. Confusing as to how that all played out.
Of course it does go along with some of what we found out back several months ago about JW being in school.
I know he is going to college here locally, and was trying to fit his racing in AROUND that....
He's a good kid. I think if he is given time and a chance to start over.... he could make a decent CUP driver.
MIght even have to "start over" back in the Truck series,.. but I think he could do OK. He's done much better since getting back with RAB... Just needs to give himself time to progress, and not be pushed along 'too' fast.
With what all has transpired... he may not have much interest anymore in driving. But like all of us,.. once racing gets in your blood it's there to stay.
Maybe he'd be a spotter, etc for someone. Heck I'd even like to get back involved and be a spotter again.
