Livin' Large... Lovin' Life

WWW
« on: October 13, 2010, 04:58:45 PM »

Man.. the chat forum was pretty much on life support a few months back.. (while others were all abuzz what with fueds, the chase, etc keeping posts mounting)
It looks like that server glitch that lasted about 3 weeks here,... may have been the death blow for this forum.
I know I myself would just check now and then to see if anyone had posted anything,.. and I kept getting the error message.

Now that the server has been fixed for a week or so... I have saw no more than a small handful of post here
I hadn't saw anything new for almost a week....  And I probably have posted more than anyone over time..??
So If I have pretty much stopped coming to check on new posts, and also make my own post,... I feel most others have also.

Maybe it'll pick back up... but we all know that after the season ends is generally a 'slow' time for the forum here.
So with that event set to occur in just 6 more races,.. I fear no one will be back in the Spring without some serious promotions, give-aways, etc.
Shame.. we had such a nice group here

The ones that died.... they were the back-bone... the old school ones know who they are...

I feel the same about you..
You are right,.. we have a cohesive little group... and for the most part everyone got to speak their mind and not any flaming.
I guess good things don't last forever

I've noticed an increase of folks commenting on the main page articles. I wonder if some of those regulars are aware of the forums.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel. As much as I'm unhappy with NASCAR, it's the fans that keep me coming back. Some of nicest people I've ever met are NASCAR fans. Even if a race sucks, I've always had a great time hanging out with my friends.

I hope it's not the end.  Most of the other forums I've looked at are pretty awful, content wise.  This group seems to have deeper understanding of the sport, and be able to discuss & disagree respectfully.

well.. In some ways it's up to use that use the forums to help spread the word about what a great little chat area we have here.
On the other hand... FS itself could do a little self promotion,... maybe eve going so far as to post highlights of some of the discussion topics.
I hope it gets going again.  We've always had a great group here

I know that I wasnt around the baord as long as many of you (only two or three years) but I have always enjoyed the comments. It has been a nice forum to give opinions and then see anothers point of view. Most of the boards are just who can use the most profanity and make the biggest insults. I enjoy the actual thought people have on a subject.
I am definately interested in keeping it going. To do my part I will give an effort to post as often as possible. Maybe some others will consider the same. While I have to admit I have lost a lot of interest in todays NASCAR, it is still my favorite sport.

who knows ... maybe.  I know they have  some sort of FS FaceBook page now...
But IMO I think the FS staff / owners will have to promote the forums themselves in some way.
Needless to say,.. a good forum with a lot of activity drives more people to read the main FS articles, etc. and creates more interest
we'll just have to see what happens and how it all plays out I guess.

Hey I sure would Hate to See the FS Forum Shutdown ! Lots of Good People onboard. Sure we have lost some unfortunately , but also have gained some reallly decent Contributors , and not only Racing Fan's , but Sports Fan's in General. I hope that they find a way to keep this going , Face Book Forum or what ever it takes Family !

I like being here but since the issue I haven't checked in lately.  Glad it is back up and we see some more conversations.  Most of them here are actually solid compared to some of those other sites.

I do a lot more reading than posting. The board was down a long time. I don't understand why. I even heard a rumor that it was intentional, but that is hard to believe.

I check very often. Seemed forever, much longer than normal for a server problem. Oh well, glad to see it back.

I enjoy all the old timers here. (regulars that is)

I like reading all the posts in this section, just don't feel the need to comment on most things.

I enjoy this site because the bickering is kept to a minimum and the talk is about the race, not the spectical.

I realize that a lot of folks are probably like OreganSHRFan..
Many like to come and read, but don't post often.
I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do... but I think we all need to remember that without people replying to others post... not much happens.
And it's always nice to have people comment, and throw in their two cents.  Nice to know what everyone thinks...

SO everyone feel free to stop in and post regularly,  Glad to have everyone.
