The Southern 500 was the oldest superspeedway race on the schedule. Two years ago it was unceremoniously dumped from the schedule. Should NASCAR admit its mistake and move the Darlington race back to Labor Day weekend? Let's hear what you have to say.

As a moderator, I can not say anything. I'd have to throw myself off the board. Shocked

LOL @ Skool
I think I'll have to agree with SKool...
I guess I'll just have to let YOU GUYS throw me off the board... hehehehe

I think when you take all the TRADITION out of something it is not what it came from.  Suddenly it has no 'roots'.  Darlington on Labor day weekend was a traditional as it gets.
It was something people looked forward to,... nay, even longed for.
Nascar is quickly taking away ALL the tradition from the sport,.. and when it does it will just be "generic".

The FIRST race the track ever had was ON Labor Day,.. seems "wrong" to take away THAT date.  AT least if they were gonna take away a date,.. take away the Spring date.
The FIRST Winston Million was capped off there,... you could just go on and on.  The place is steeped with history.

Darlington is just one race being taken away from going the route of Rockingham and North WIlkesboro.  They ALSO had some of the BEST racing on the circuit.  A shame to lose your "unique" tracks in favor if all this 'new and improved" ( Huh? Huh?) cookie cutter crap.

I have to agree with Chris.

NA$CAR's master plan is profits. Lots and Lots of profits.
And I don't know why Darlington, North Wilkesboro and Rockingham couldn't
be made more "profitable" -- especially given that Brian is attempting to "grow the fan base" to include those who would probably pay more to attend a nostalgic race. If the Hollyweird wine and cheese and milk and cookie crowd make NA$CAR events the "in thing", .......................ahhhhh, what's the use? Brian pulled the plug.

Waaayyyyyy too soon -- my opinion.
And, for alllllllllllll the wrong reason(s).

Two dates for California?!
Nutz!

For those planning to attend the September race this year -- be sure to drink plenty of non-adult beverages -- or BOTTLED water. I understand many of Fontana's wells are contaminated with kooties you don't want.
Last I heard, temps were expected to be in the high 90's to over 100 degrees.
Considering all the reflective surfaces and heat absorbing blacktop, you can bet the midway will be a scorcher. I'd also bet the money separator under the stands will be air-conditioned -- you know, for your comfort.

NA$CAR Fan = transportation device for a (full) wallet.
Don't leave home without it! Cool
Be California's guest to try out their new(est) money making money separator.
Please use blow-up dolls to hold your seats while shopping -- so the powers that be NA$CAR will think all the seats are filled.
Smoke and mirrors.
Hey!
Works for that magic guy.
NO! Not Johnson!
Scheese!
I gotta 'splain EVERYthing? Tongue Undecided  Wink

What was the question again? Huh? Roll Eyes Embarrassed

NASCAR is a Southern tradition.  They don't even appreciate the race they have out there in California.  I've been to Darlington and I say... bring em back!
