Livin' Large... Lovin' Life

WWW
« on: November 21, 2010, 07:00:55 PM »

I know many folks are getting tired of seeing the same person win the championship year after year...
But I have to say the whole groups ability to over-come problems, think on their feet, and roll with the problems as they arise SURE do show why the #48 team is the champ once again.
As I said at the beginning of the year... That team just doesn't beat themselves...

Everyone will have to agree with this statement...
We are seeing history in the making,... and JJ can already be called one of the GREATEST drivers in NASCAR history

But as far as winning a SIXTH Championship next year....  I think we'll see someone new next year.
Who will that be... don't know yet, but we should all have an opinion by the time Daytona in Feb rolls around.
Hope everyone will hang around and keep the FS site active in the off-season

You'd think 5 consecutive championships would make a fan say, "Wow." NASCAR has taken the "wow"out of me. I have no problem with Jimmie winning 5 titles, I just don't care anymore.

I don't have a problem w/ JJ and Chad winning 5 in a row.  It's quite an accomplishment.  They were the best team when it counted.

At least they had to work a little harder for it this year...

Congrats on a job well done, I was impressed by the way JJ and everyone on the 48 team handled the pressure the final week.

Yep I agree with everyone's opinion within this Thread . Further Chris You Summed it up very well , when the chips were down and when it really counted the 48 Crew (with a little help) from the 24 Team did what was needed to set a very impressive Record 5th Straight . It will be very interesting to see what happens between now and Daytona as to the 48 and 24 crew members , rumour has it that some of the 48 (former) crew did not even attend the celebrations after the race last night !

Note: As for the Forum I would hope some of our former forum members might have dropped back in , I will do my best to drop on in weekly , since there is a additional Bow Season Deer Hunt in December this Yr. I will keep everyone on Pins and Needles waiting to hear the outcome lol  Roll Eyes All the Best everyone and All the Best within the very close Xmas Season  Wink

Got to congratulate the 48 team on making history. No doubt they have a great team and the ability to make changes when it counts. And JJ is one of the best out there.

That being said I still think it is bad for the sport. I don't think I am the only one out there who has been an active fan for many years that has just lost interest, plain an simple. I am not sure I watched a complete race all year that I did not see in person. Maybe the folks at NASCAR will pay attention and do somewthing positive. This current chase is BS. I miss the old days.

This is why I hate the chase Format Kevin Harvick was Good all year long
And the 48 had a lot of problems until the chase.
IMHO JJ was the Best in the chase but not the whole season Matter of fact by the old point system he would only have 2 Championships. Jimmie Johnson is no where near the top 3 drivers in history. Not even in the top 10

I'm not sure that would be the case.  If there wasn't a Chase, I think JJ would run differently all year.  With the Chase, they know they only have to be in the top 12.  They coast during the year, work on stuff for the Chase, save their good stuff for when it matters, and win a couple to get the bonus points.  Once the Chase starts, then they turn it up a notch.

If they had to run hard all year, I think the could and would.

They are playing within the format that nascar set, and doing it well...

congrats to the 48 team.  They are a dynasty.  They are the best we have.  They play by the rules that are set place.  They would race it different it it was different.  He is definately a top 10 talent already.
with that said this just puts another nail in the coffin for Nascar

And it is good for Nascar.  Why? Because it has never been done before. Like the first fight on TV...and president's visit. If they play it right, it will draw the curious at least to the TV if not the races. Lots think doing left turns all day is boring. But every time something unusual happens, new fans will come to check it out. And some will stick.

What brought you to Nascar?  I grew up with it. Most didn't anymore, we are a minority. Advertising and hoopla brought most of the fans we have today. That's why we see the talking heads explaining simple stuff every week on TV. It's boring to us, but most people never heard of a track bar adjustment, cooling fans for brakes, sectioned pick-ups in the fuel tanks for high banked turns, and why Kyle Busch is an idiot.

Montvale, I am still going to have to disagree that it is good for NASCAR. I agree that many will look out of curiosity and a few might stick. But those will not pay the bills that the die hard fans have paid for years. As I see it NASCAR has become a made for TV event and while it was new to a lot of people it was popular. Now that the new has worn off it is boring to many of us. I understand the premise of the talking heads explaining everything, but the sport has been a staple of tv since 1979 (over 30 years) and if it wants to be legitimate it is time to move past the elementary explanations. I did not grow up around basketball and only have a basic understanding but the announcers do not feel the need to explain every foul on every broadcast even though there are many new fans.

Will be interesting to see what changes happen over the off season.

Publicity of any kind will be scarce after the awards  ceremony. Any will be better than none for awhile.  Grin

This time of the year we normally get to hear about the driver's wives, dogs and go-carts. I try to miss as much of it as I can.

We don't watch thug ball, so the TV is pretty quiet for awhile.
