I happened to catch a concert special on one of the Public Broadcasting stations the other day that knocked my knickers off. The band is LEAHY, and consists of eight members -- all related. Brothers, sisters, and a wife (maiden name -- McMasters).
They're from Lakefield, Ontario, Canada.

Their father played fiddle, and their mother was a champion step dancer. They're retired, but they made an appearence and performed a song on stage for this concert. All the band members are dancers as well as musicians, and they are capable of playing several instruments.

Donnell (Leahy) is the group leader and that guy knows how to fiddle!!! Up 'till I heard him play the fiddle, I considered Ricky Skaggs a "picker's picker", but Donnell and the band does The Orange Blossom Special better than I've ever heard.

His sister, Erin, plays piano, does vocals, and when SHE plays the fiddle, hang on!!
After playing a song, she proceeds to invert the fiddle and play it up-side-down. And the song sounds the same -- doesn't miss a single beat. Then, -- She plays it behind her back. Then, she bends over and plays it between her left leg. Then, she plays it while step dancing. Never misses a single beat! I couldn't believe it!

The band plays every type of music and draws an audience of folks from Country, Bluegrass, Celtic, Classical, Rock, and Heavy Metal. It's amazing how talented the Leahy family is.

If you happen to be channel surfing and find this concert special, Listen ! Watch!
It'd be worth checking your local listings for this band and make plans to tune in.

B.Babe! Are you familiar with Leahy?

Celine, Shania, and Leahy.
Thanx Canada!
When it comes to talent -- y'all export the best.
I could be content if the three I named were the only music I owned.
Does Canada do ANYthing half way? From my vantage point, Canada's cup runneth over. Over the U.S.A. and the world.

Leahy will be in my area in January, I think. Ticket prices are very reasonable too. Best seats -- including back stage passes -- and either before or after the concert, the $75 price includes meeting the band -- up close and personal. I'd say that was a bargain. Prices start around $35, I think. Be assured though, where ever you sit, you'll feel the energy Leahy generates. And they can choke ya up with emotion too.

Why haven't I heard of Leahy before now?
Now that I have -- I sure won't forget.

If you like Leahy, you will also like Richie Blackmore's Knight. Richie Blackmore's wife Candice is the lead vocalist and all I can say is WOW! You should also check out what Ian Anderson has been up to........this music is who and what I am...........it allows me to drift off to a land of enchanment filled with castles, dragons, Knights and Fairies......
