Kevin Grubb suspended

SceneDaily is reporting Kevin Grubb has been suspended indefinitly for failure to submit to a drug test.

Reinstated June 7, this year to Sept. 12, this year.

*sighs* Well, that bites. Another career down the tubes. But on the bright side, it's twistedly nice to know there's *something* non-cup drivers can do to get the attention of the general race fan contingent.

I don't like to make assumptions...
But LOGICALLY lets look at it this way...

If you are let back in Nascar and part of the rules are you submit to random drug test,.. you know you hAVE to,.. no if's and's or but's.
SO that means you GOTTA stay clean.

Whats the ONE and only reason you would REFUSE to take a drug test and ruin the rest of your career...
You been 'token up' (or worse)...  doing SOME type of drugs,.. and he knows if he takes the 'pee test' it's gonna show up in his system and he's gonna be BUSTED.

One is as bad as the other,...
The fact he crashed on the first lap of the race I am SURE sent up a red flag to Nascar (and I am sure they may of had other 'signs' also).
SO the test was a way for him to clear himself if he WAS clean,.. obviously he wasn't... and in THIS instance I COMMEND Nascar for getting a druggie off the track before he hurts someone...

Well, as someone who fought taking a sobriety test when I was stone sober, I can say there are other reasons one might do so. However, it wasn't my career on the line, just my pride. If he didn't have anything in his system, it was a pretty stupid move.

I can see some things in SOME situations folks might want to refuse to do...
And I can see your point also.

This is kinda different.  I mean to me when you get let back into something like racing and it has "conditions",.. you have to honor those conditions.  Whether you like it or not.  It was a condition of you even being accepted back to start with.
I guess I kinda look at it like being on 'parole'.   If you miss an appointment with your parole office, you can go straight back to jail.  In this case if you refuse to take the test,.. you just get booted back out of Nascar.
Kinda the same thing... Either one to be let "out" (or in) comes with conditions,.... fail to meet the conditions,.. and you lose the 'prilivages' you were granted.

's why I said it was a stupid move. If he DIDN'T have anything in his system, then he threw everything away with that refusal, whatever its point. And it's likely just as you said (Though I hesitate to say he was a danger to others without proof that drugs were affecting his judgement when he was on the track - something never proven, IIRC, with any of the suspended drivers. Not that it should affect his suspention in the least - he deserves it as the forewarned result of his refusal)

A Shame for Grubb... but a guy has got to have priorities

*nods* I was so hoping Hmiel's example would keep him on the straight and narrow. It's not like he didn't know they would be testing him - or what the consequences would be. But after how far he apparently fell after his first suspension, then the way he pulled back up, then to finally get reinstated - as a fan, I was really pulling for him. This hurts.
