Personally, I think NASCAR had a hard-on to find him guilty. Read the story, tell us what you think.

I feel hope that he was not on drugs. But I doubt they'll reinstate him. NASCAR doesn't admit it's wrong. Ever. If he has medical proof that he wasn't in any condition to coherently answer their questions they should give him the benefit of the doubt (and examine their medical practices.)
But they won't.
That aside, I've long thought that this "random drug testing" is stupid. Someone got kicked out for drug use then gets let back in? Test them every stupid week. Even off weeks, if you want. "Random" is like daring them to go back. You want to be sure they're clean? Make sure they're clean. Don't play games. I'm sure NASCAR can afford the test. Heck, make the driver pay for the test if it's a problem.
I can't help but wonder, if Hmiel had known that he'd be tested before or after *every* race, would he have dropped off the wagon?

For 10 yrs, I was a forklift operator loading trucks. If you were involved in an accident with your forklift, you were automatically drug tested, no matter who you are.
After this instance of asking for a drug test immediately after a crash (which as I stated in my article, I feel is in bad taste) the policy of NASCAR should be that EVERYONE who is taken to the infield care center submit to a drug test as a matter of procedure. That way, even the big names of the sport would be tested on a regular basis.
It is not like NASCAR cannot afford it and it would be SOP and everyone would know it.

I'm more worried about the lack of medical ethics on the part of NASCARS Infield Medical team than the damn drug test. Yes, that's an important issue too but come on.....if they guy went to the hospital the next day and was told he had a concussion........gee doesn't that make ya think his denial at the time should be overlooked. I say test him....heck if I was Kevin I'd submit to a hair sample. From what I understand they are hard to beat......and yes get an independant lab to do the test too....something sounds very fishy here.

You know...when I saw the stories that came out yesterday, I wasn't that surprised. This sounds like something NASCAR would do. I would love to see Kevin sue NASCAR over this, however, we all know NASCAR would pay off everyone involved to avoid a lawsuit.
