I missed the announcement for who it was that sang the national anthem but - WOW..........   Shocked Shocked Shocked

That had to be a nail in that groups coffin.....

Out of tune... can't hold a note...  no harmony amongst all 8(?) of the singers...  sheesh - someone hit that gong....

Ever seen "Showtime at the Apollo"?  Get that guy out there to "shoo" them off the stage...  I can hear the crowd now....  "Wok Wok....  Wok Wok....  Wok Wok....  Wok Wok...."

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY . . .

When I go to casinos, the most ridiculous sign I see is the one that says:
"If you have a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER."

So, I call them and say,
"I have an ace and a six. The dealer has a seven. What do I do?"

Yesterday's national anthem was awful too!!  They need to go back to having a group of kids singing, like they did at the one race not that long ago...

It was terrible at the start atleast they got a bit better at the end. Some people just got to realize not everyone can sing it and be good at it

I thankfully didn't hear it, but I don't think "Not everyone can sing it and be good at it" is really the problem. They're not untalented singers and our anthem is a VERY simple song. But when you try to do harmony, all it takes is one person not hitting the right note to make the whole thing go off. And in a live, outdoor venue, your monitor isn't much use — you're essentially flying blind. At least, if the acoustics space in a race track is anything like at a football field, which I assume it to be - closer than in a building or enclosed arena at any case.

NASCAR should stick to either unharmonized groups or groups who are *tight,* who've been singing together a long time so they could sing their parts right without hearing anyone else. the main problem most anthem singers have had this year is trying to get too fancy on a simple song. All of them are capable, talent-wise, of producing a perfectly wonderful rendition of the song. I can only assume NASCAR's making the mistake of choosing on recommendation or demo instead of actually having them try it live.

Thats just it Dustcloud...  It didn't start harmony - it started solo.  Probably the first 1/3rd was solo...  Very shaky and off key...

Simon, Randy AND Paula woulda sent them packing....

That's just as hard if you can't hear one another. Harder, possibly.
