I have just learned that Roush and Yates could build a team for Yates which would put him with 3 car's and take Roush down to 4. I think that Roush is looking into the future being's that Nascar is going to put a cap on how many team's a owner can have. I'm not sure how many team's they are going to allow an owner to have. Getting interesting.

Yup. Jack has until 2009 to pare it down to 4 teams, one is going to have to go somewhere. That move makes the most sense. Greg would be a good fit over there, and if they do it BEFORE the 2009 deadline, when some of the Roush primary sponsors contracts are up for renewal, and get the team established and Yates back on the right track, it's more likely the sponsors will re-sign on whichever car goes over there. Much better chance than trying to get them to resign and gamble that the team is going to succeed right away. It could be a winning team by the time the contracts are due for renewal.
This rumor wouldn't surprise me if it eventually proves to be true in some form.

Yeah,.. I could see one of Jacks other teams going over to Yates,...
Like BB said,... it's gotta go somewhere.
They already share technology, motors, chassis, etc.
I kinda doubt Biffle would be the one that may go to RYR. Jack just said Biffle is the lead driver on his team after Martin retires,.. something just don't make sense after that statement.
McMurray is the weak link on that team right now. Not saying he'll go to RYR. But Ragan is moving up, so he'll stay,.. Kenseth will stay,.. assume Biffle will stay,... picking are getting slim as to who would go to RYR
Might even see RYR go to a fourth team,.. and use one of Jacks development drivers (O'Quinn, Kluever, etc)
Before they do anything,.. they gotta get their program turned around

THEIR CURRENT DRIVER CONTRACTS EXPIRED. BUT NOTHING WAS ETCHED IN STONE , NASCAR

Biffle to RYR? There’s talk that Roush Racing and Robert Yates Racing might create a new team for Greg Biffle. The team would be Robert Yates’ third and would reduce to four the number of full-schedule Cup teams owned by Jack Roush. Chris this is from a website that I visit often.

never know.. anything is possible...
time will tell.... might happen.
Just kinda seemed funny for Roush to announce Biffle was heir-appearant to be the leader of the Roush brigade, and then he goes to RYR... seems kinda funny.
But never say never...
As for as the number of teams... From what I have read... Nascar is reducing the number of teams to
FOUR
as a maximum... Roush has
five
now and has to get down to
four
. Only reason he don't have to right now is because he has contracts locked in to 2009. Never heard anywhere about three as a max...

That number was 4 but Rouch was givin time to get down to 4. Hendrick has been at 4 so that doesnt affect them since they only have 4 times with Terry part time and he isnt coming back after this year

That's why we call it the "Roush Rule". Because he's the only one currently affected, the only one with more than 4 teams, and like Matt Kenseth (Surprise! A Roush driver) winning by sheer consistency in 2003 spurring NASCAR to bring in the "Chase" concept, Roush making 5 teams work brought on this rule. Nascar will deny it, but Roush is the only one affected, therefore he's the one who succeeded too well...so NASCAR has to squash that. They didn't want Hendrick et al following in Roush's footsteps.
JMO of course. Mine, and a lot of people at Roush and in the Roush fan clubs.

Jack's still got Matt...hand-picked by Mark...and talented as all get-out. He's more like Mark than Greg will ever be. Not that Greg COULDN'T be the "leader" but Matt is calmer, more level-headed (he DOES have a temper, though, just a really long fuse!!
)....he'll be a better influence on the younger guys. Greg's fuse is notoriously short.

well BB,.. thats what I thought?
in a recently posted article,.. Jack kinda stated Biffle and Matt were pretty equal talent wise. But when it came to helping along young and newer driver iffle was actually the one that was better at it.
That kinda surprised me too.
I kinda wonder HOW Matt is gonna do when R Reiser moves up and Matt gets a new crew chief. They been together since the beginning. I look for Matt to possibly struggle next season.

3 (THREE) WAS THE NUMBER FRANCE PUT ON THE TABLE INTIALLY , READ THE REPORTS CAREFULLY !
THE REASON HE WAFFLED WAS FROM THE PRESSURE FROM HENDRIKS PRIVATELY AND ROUSH PUBLICLY
THE CRYS OF INDIGNATION FROM THE RANK & FILE PERSUADED HIM TO COUNTER WITH FOUR AS THE INTERIUM NUMBER , WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ROUSH. ONCE ALL CONTRACTS (AS I SAID) PREVIOUSLY HAD EXPIRED 2009 (THANKS BB) HE WOULD RECONSIDER THE NUMBERS , WHICH HE HAD IDEALLY INVISIONED AS THREE....BUT AS I AGAIN HAVE STATED...THINGS CHANGE AND SO WE SHALL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE...EH !!!

I see your point TY
As time passes,.. and MORE owners work up to 4 team cars,.. I kinda doubt the number will be reduced back down to three.
reason being is this,.. right now we just had
TWO
teams with 4+ cars so that were NASCAR set it,... after time passes and we have 5 or 6 teams with 4 teams, gonna be even harder to get it back down to three teams.
We got these teams with four teams: Hendricks, Roush... and these teams looking to move up to four teams or have discussed it... DEI, RCR, RYR, Gibbs, Evernham, and Ganassi. They all have three teams now (or will in 2007)
SO if they do go to four teams, thats
EIGHT
four car owners. And not just some wimpy little owners. They are the
MAJOR
owners in the sport. Gonna be hard to get them down to three, what with contracts, etc. What if one of them signs a driver/sponsor contract with
ALL
his drivers like the one Hendrick has with Dupont/Gordon. That would keep them at four drivers PERMANENTLY...
You also got other teams with three drivers,... Michael Waltrip racing, Ginn racing, Bill Davis Racing, ... not counting the two cars teams... and single car teams,.. and part-timers...
MAN
there's gonna be a
LOT
of cars showing up to race next season (at least for a while)... the part-timers and low budget teams will fall by the way side
quickly
.

I think NASCAR's team cap of four Cup cars per team pretty well precludes Hendrick from running a fifth car in the future, even on a limited basis. The only reason Roush has five is that his are grandfathered in. As soon as he loses a sponsor and a driver, he'll have to cut down to four cars.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/6062442
Right now it's 4 teams...maybe they WILL lower it to 3 in the future, but I think that's ridiculous. Bad enough they're makimg Roush downsize, they're going to do it to him again AND to Hendrick??? And anyone else who in the meantime manages to field 4 teams? That's just crazy. Keep it at 4, and let's race....With Toyota coming in, there will be MORE owners with 3-4 teams, and that will provide for more competition, eventually...

I AGREE CHRIS & B.BABE , JUST STATED THE FACTS AS I UNDERSTOOD THEM , 30+ YRS IN MANAGEMENT AND STILL A STICKLER FOR DETAILS..MAN !! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ALL TEAMS CAPABLE OF FIELDING 5 TEAMS $$$ BUT UNFORTUNATELY THIS SHALL NEVER BE.
P.S. I WOULD STILL LIKE TO SEE AN AMBER LITE IN THE BACK WINDOW OF ALL NASCAR SERIES VEHICLES , JUST TO INDIATE LOSS OF POWER ETC. AS A FORM OF WARNING TO OTHER DRIVERS. IRL HAS A FORM OF THIS IN THEIR CAR (RED FLASHING LITE) DURING PRESS TO PASS (BOOST) DURATIONS. 'SORRY OFF TOPIC...CHOW !!! LOVE YER COLLECTIVE COMMENTS...TY !

Wow -I'm shocked that Jack would say that, and in reality diss his only remaining Cup champion. Although with Mark Martin leaving the way he is, I guess anything is possible.
Do you think that maybe Jimmy Fennig will stick around for a couple of years and be Matt's crew chief if Reiser moves to management? Maybe the time in the Busch series has rejuvinated him, and he wants to re-prove himself since the McMurray fiasco?
