Newman tested a Toyota? Toyota's 2007 Cup lineup so far: two Davis teams, three Waltrip teams, and two Red Bull teams, and two part-time teams. "I won't deny we've had conversations with existing teams, from every manufacturer," White said, leaving the answers up in the air. "It's not something we're actively pursuing. Teams have approached us; we have not approached them." One of those teams, sources say, could be Roger Penske's two-car Dodge operation. That's why it kinda blew my mind when he went Dodge a few years ago...with his contacts, he HAD to know Toyota was headed for Nascar...and I've always said Penske would eventually go Toyota, would be a boon for Toyota, an established team on board.

Penske was with Toyota for a number of year's in the IRL so I am sure that he still has alot of friend's over there. Heck he might even get a few extra TRICK'S if you know what I mean .

Hottt off the press. Well at least for us people on the East coast . R.Newman tested at The Rock today in a Toyota. "They wanted to see what the other guy had ". I thought The Rock closed down. Maybe someone could help me with this.

I think it just stopped holding NEXTEL races, not closing entirely.

Yup, no more Nascar at the Rock, but there's been testing and some other series' run there.

Roger Penske isn't afraid of going outside of the box.  In his earlier days he ran an AMC Javeline in the trans-am (I think) series and won the championship 2 years ahead of the Ford Mustangs.  Camero had pulled out at the time.  I followed the series at the time because my ride was a 69 Javeline with the AMX package.

With his conneciton to Toyota I would expect that he would have been offered a Toyota team, but maybe not.  Bill Davis has flown the Toyota banner against a lot of adversity in the CTS and there is no doubt about Red Bulls connection in the IRL.

It won't be the first time Penske took an untried untested car all  the way to the top.....

Anyone remember Mark Donahue and the AMC  Javelins that ruled TRANSAM for a few years? He also raced a Matador competively in NASCAR during 1973 as part of Team Penske!!!

All I can say is... WATCH OUT NASCAR.... THE RICE BURNERS ARE COMMING!!!!!
