#2 Team Penalized for shock infraction, suspension, $ and points: NASCAR announced today that penalties have been issued to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series #2 Dodge team as a result of rule violations last week at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Crew chief Roy McCauley has been fined $25,000 and suspended from all NASCAR events until Nov. 1, 2006. McCauley has also been placed on probation until Dec. 31, 2006. Driver Kurt Busch was penalized with the loss of 50 driver championship points and car owner Roger Penske was penalized 50 owner championship points. The penalties resulted from violations of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment that do not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-12.3M (right rear shock absorber would not compress) of the 2006 NASCAR Rule Book. The infraction was discovered during post-qualifying inspection on Oct. 12

I can see money,.... and driver and owner points usually go hand in hand.
50 is a bit more than normal... but then again,  Nascar DID say they WERE going to be increasing fines and penalties to send a message.  hhuumm

The RR shock was more than a little off-spec, it wouldn't compress!

Not the thing that you would expect to get thru tech so I have to assume it was a mechanical problem.

And yet, the last two penalties for the same type of violation resulted in a pair of FOUR race suspensions for Ed Berrier and Chad Knaus...last guy caught for something got 50 points, too...so this isn't an increase, if anything, he got off easy...

Interesting side note that although Penske has indicated that they will not appeal Nascars Penalties , no Internal Inspection of the aforementioned shock can commence until after the appeal period. We have been introduced to Coil Binding ! Could this be another form of deception "After-

coil binding has been going on for a while (over a year or so)...
just now starting to be talked about much
but coil binding start coming along after Nascar outlawed 'bump stops'

Yall do realize that when a team gets fined if they are in the top 25 in owner points they get the money back , Example

NASCAR collected fines of $384,495 from 73 Nextel Cup penalties in 2004 and redistributed the money to the top 25 drivers, The Wall Street Journal reports today. As a result, champion Kurt Busch, whose team was fined $21,000 for various infractions during the season, collected $84,588. The newspaper says the NBA, the NFL and MLB turn over the fine money they collect to philanthropic organizations.(NASCAR Scene Daily Newsletter)(6-17-2005)

So giving them fines is pointless

yep,.. you're 100% correct...
AT least they should give it to the Racing Wives Auxiliary (sp),.. Or Victory Junction or something...

OH,.. and they don't give back 100%.. they keep SOME of it for administration fees,.. just for handling it.  Gotta figure out SOME way to keep some of it for THEMSELVES

It's not like the points hurt him....and the money...well they'll get it back.  But we all know how I feel about the fines and how they're redistributed.  I think we have the conversation about the fines every year when they're redistributed....oh well.

Here's an idea I don't remember brought up before.

Take all that fine money and redistribute it ALL to the
FANS!

Just a thought I think I thunk.
