thought I dig out this old topic...
everyone was on Ragan's case after the last (his first) Martinsville race.
NASCAR even went so far as to sit him out a few races because he's not a good enough driver..??  LOL.... More like they just like sticking a burr under J Roush's saddle when they get a chance.

In any event since the season started he finished 5th @ Daytona; 16th @ California, a 26th at Bristol,.. and lo and behold 15th at Martinsville on the lead lap.  He's 19th in points
Funny for a driver that can't even "qualify" to sit in a race car,.. he's had 3 top 20 finishes in 6 starts.
Bet Mikey Waltrip wishes HIS season was going that good,.. Heck I bet Waltrip wishes he could just MAKE a race.

Maybe I should say... I bet ______ (insert name) wishes their season was going as well as Ragans.  Labonte, Sorenson, Marlin, Mears, Kahne, Riggs, Jarrett, Blaney..??
I guess when your a driver for Roush... It's kinda like being "Dirty Harry". NASCAR always tries to hand you the crappy end of the stick.

Hey , It's all Ancient History now...Baby !! Another individual will cross the proverbial line this weekend....eventually , once the rain stops fallen , and we can all debate the Evils of that poor souls misguided actions...Man. On a more serious note David will have to experience the Highs and Lows as every other Drivers has & Does in any form of Competition. This is where he must pay his Dues , how well he progress's will depend on his maturity level , and some further Luck. He has shown quite well to date !
a few stumbles and I repeat a very few at that ! I would think that he should do even better if what I hear
is in the works plays out. Being Jimmy the "Professor Fennig" becoming Ragans full time Crew Chief in 2007. Should this occur , than his learning curve will take a drastic downturn....well we shall have to wait for the rain to stop and that Political Dust to settle Guys and Girlies...lets just see what developes...Eh !     Grin Grin

Yep , as I said Previously , with a little time , patience and tutoring by Mr Fennig...Ragan has started to turn the corner !  Unfortunatley the Chevy's are beginning to stink up the joint..the Fords and Dodges are having to play catch up..but Roush and the #6 Car are showing respectable finishs..so far Chris !  Wink

yeah.. I just thought a typical knee-jerk reaction by NASCAR... (and the typical NASCAR mouthpieces egging it on)
The kid has shown potential ever since he got behind a NASCAR race vehicle... be it CTS, BGN or the CUP cars...
He needs some time to 'season' yet... but to even THINK about taking him out of the ride was just NASCAR's way of sticking it it Roush.

I dunno Chris.  I gotta go with Fat Tony on this one.  The boy was a dart without feathers.  There are places you can go to turn potential into talent.  Late models.  modifieds.  ARCA.  CTS.  Busch.  The Cup series is for people who already know how to drive a race car.  Not for those trying to learn.

I know Jack Rousch has a thing about NA$CAR ever since he and Martin lost the Championship to Ironhead by less than the penalty points they got slapped with.  But just because Rousch has the cash to put a loose cannon into a 3,400-pound stock cars doesn't mean he should be allowed out there to wreck guys like Schrader.

Now if NA$CAR would just be CONSISTENT and sit JPM down after his bone-headed bonzai move wrecked Tony Raines....   Roll Eyes

yeah...
but thats my whole point.. WHERE are you gonna learn how to drive a CUP car (especially a COT) except in the CUP series.
Gotta get out there and do it.
I was just saying his results have shown he is doing better than some of the "veterans", and any thought of sitting him down was just a 'jab' at Roush more than anything.
The kids not gonna win Rookie of the year,.. but he's smart and a quick learner.  I think he'll contend for a championship in years to come.
