Boy,... I'm impressed with David Ragan tonight...
He did a WHALE of a job in Mark Martins #6 truck.
Posted an 8th place finish... obvioulsy the kid has talent, and shows it when he gets in one on the 'top knotch' trucks in Roush's stable....

For those that may be 'out of the loop'... Ragan finished '2nd' in Roush's "Gong Show" last year.  Jack was so impressed he just couldn't let David sit on the side lines,... and after thinking about it a while he gave both the winner and David a ride.

David didn't get to start at the beginning of the season,.. and is behind in his driver development.  But he showed with good equipment he can put the truck up front.

For all you "long time" race fans,... David is the son a past NASCAR CUP driver Ken Ragan from Unadilla, Georgia.  He competed part time on a limited budget.  Competing mostly at tracks like Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta, Lowes, Darlington, etc.
Currently Ken is the current director of legends car racing of Georgia.

I had heard he was doing well last night.  Roush oughta hold on tight to talent like that.

yeah,.. he was 5th on the last restart (with 2 to go)...
a truck got into him and almost spun him out.  he did a great job to save it,.. and just lost a couple spots.

He's a GREAT kid,.. well spoken, and a PR dream.

And Mark said on Trackside that he had a nice talk with him..told him that it was OK if he ran 19th like you Auggie did and that he din't have to go for the win every week, especially out the gate Smiley

ANOTHER great finish by David this weekend...
Finished 6th at Kansas...
Thats THREE good runs he's had in a row,.. AMAZING how good he can do when he drives "Mark's" #6 truck, and not that piece of junk #50 truck
This week 6th,.. three races ago, he was 8th,.. and the middle week was running in the top 10 late in the race until he had a flat.

Sad to hear Kelly had a bad crash and was taken to the hospital (and finished last)
Also knocked her out of the top 30 in points.
A bad week all the way around...
Sutton did suffer injuries in the crash, including a broken arm and a broken rib, and will likely be forced to miss upcoming Truck Series races at Kentucky Speedway and Memphis Motorsports Park.

All three drivers had good runs last night, both Ragan and Darnell got top 10 finshes, Jourdain was able to hang toe-to-toe for the lead with Ambrose early in the "piece of junk" 50 truck.

Yeah I was surprised...
That #50 truely IS a piece of junk.
It's an OLD chassis that was sitting back behind the shop, and they just threw a body on it so David had something to race.
Don't have all the tweeks, and strokes, and work on it like Mark's does.

Jourdain is a heck of a driver,.. he gave it a good ride.

I was afraid a win was wishing for too much...
If they hadn't got the truck set-up off and got it too loose (then had that long green run where he fell so far back in the pack, I think he'd of had a better finish,.. maybe been up contending for the win.
After all he was faster than crawford before the first round of pist stops...

But he's young and has to tell the crew exactly what the truck needs... so he'll learn as he goes along.

Still all in all 9th still wasn't bad and he kept it out front for his sponsors a big part of the race,.. and TV kept going back and checking on him since he won the pole,.. so his sponsors should be happy.
In general another good run for a 'newbie'

Well Looks like David just keeps getting better...
He made his first BGN start in Roush equipment yesterday and came home on the lead lap in 18th place.  Pretty good for your first time at a place like Dover.
Throw out the THIRTEEN full time CUP drivers that finished in front of him and he finished 5th in the BGN guys...

Looks like Todd Kluevers "sure" move into CUP next year may not be so 'sure' and now the door is open for one of several drivers to move into the #6 car in 2007.  Ragan is among those candidates.
Looks like he keeps getting better with each lap turned and more and more seat time.
Honestly not so sure he is 'ready for full time CUP yet,.. but some young kid is going into that #6 seat,.. and David looks the best right now of everyone.
Hope he runs full time CUP and BGN so he can get as much seat time as possible if he gets the ride.

He makes his first career CUP start today. Hope he can just survive 400 laps and stay out of trouble.  This place has a reputation of chewing up and spitting out even the best of drivers.

It's INTERESTING to watch a new kid come along when you KNOW they don't have a lot of money and didn't "BUY" their way to the top.  This kid is WORKING for it the old fashion way.  Showing his talent and is being rewarded.

I HOPE , DAVID GET'S THE NOD FOR THE FULL TIME CUP RIDE , NOTHING AGAINST KLEVER OR O'QUIN
BUT I BELIEVE RAGAN IS THE MORE MENTALLY PREPARED FOR THE TASK. EVER SINCE MARK SAT DOWN WITH HIM AND EXPLAINED THAT (PATIENCE) "YA DON'T HAVE TO WIN EVERY RACE..MAN !! "
HE HAS SHOWN " MARKED"  IMPROVEMENT (NO PUN INTENDED) .

P.S. I HOPE KLEVER CONTINUES IN TRUCK , ALONG WITH SOME BUSCH RIDES . AS FOR O'QUIN A FULL
TIME RIDE IN BUSCH WOULD FAST PATH HIM TO A CUP RIDE . THERE ALL GREAT TALENT..I KNOW MARK HAS TRIED TO WALK THE PROPER ''POLITICALLY CORRECT'' LINE WHEN EVER INTERVIEWED AS
TO HIS THOUGHTS ON THEIR FUTURES...GREAT COMMENTS... BLU & CHRIS , LOVE YOUR POSTS !!!
