I agree,...
I think Jack thinks he has enough drivers signed for the time being.
I see he has decided NOT to do the driver X deal this year... so he must feel like he has who he needs in his camp for the time being.

(I did see Chevy is going to do one however)

REALLY?? Wow..whos' team??

I didn't see it listed as a 'team'...
Just saw it listed a "Chevy" doing a Driver X deal... Sounded like they were on a driver hunt,.. and it was kinda the same,.. kinda different.  Had some time on a dirt track,
Oh I found the story...

Quote
Chevy holds their own 'Gong Show" At Caraway Speedway this week, General Motors officials set up cars in Chevy's version of the"Gong Show" [Rosuh Racing does it years running drivers to run a Truck team]. Drivers ran in a Ron Hornaday-prepared Busch car. Two days of testing at Caraway, with a platoon of engineers from Richard Childress' operation, under the watchful eyes of GM racing execs Pat Suhy and Alba Colon, then the group will go next month to a Georgia dirt track and then to Nashville's high-banked concrete track. The drivers being tested are: Jeff Earnhardt [Dale Sr's grandson via Kerry], Joey Logano, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Colin Braun, Chase Austin, Landon Cassill, Jeremy Clements, Marc Davis, Jay Gerst, Drew Herring, Woody Howard, Tim McCreadie, Chad McCumbee, Josh Richards, Jason Sarvis and Kody Swanson. One of last year's diversity drivers, Allison Duncan, is running this year for Childress at the same Virginia track at which Jeff Earnhardt is running. But there's no word yet on whether Childress plans to move Duncan up next season. Car owners Childress and Rick Hendrick were the most visible in this round of testing, but Kevin Harvick, who has his own NASCAR teams in addition to his day job with Childress on the Nextel Cup tour, is expected to have some input, too, along with several other Chevy teams.(in part from/see full story at the Winston Salem Journal

I've heard of some of these guys,....
Jeff Earnhardt,... I hope he got lots of Dale Srs genes,.. and none of Kerrys.  Kerrys not much of a driver and to watch him drive you'd never even know he's an "Earnhardt".
Joey Logano is the most promising of the bunch IMO.
The rest I don't think I even heard of.  Clements, McCumbee, Richards and Sarvis I think runs the Hooters series (not sure)

hhuumm
They never did show a reply of what happened to Ragan today... (well not what caused it)
By the time they picked it up he was done into the outside wall...
Hard to wreck on the STRAIGHT AWAY unless someone helps you...
The way it looked,.. seems someone must have got into the back of him and turned him into the wall...
About all that could explain it.  hhuummm
Notice they never made an effort to interview him either.....

David spun out once on his own (well, in a pack, but they showed he just got loose on the jumbotron), didn't hit anything, then later someone got into him...it didn't happen in front of me, I just saw the results, too, but I believe they mentioned someone bumping him. Ended his day short, sadly. He was just there to make laps and learn...didn't get to make too many laps, unfortunately.

I think Todd, David and Danny all have what it takes to eventually excel in the 6 car...whoever gets in it next season is going to need the time that I think Jack will give him to climb the steep learning curve of Cup. Jack's going to gamble on one of these kids. Todd's had more Cup starts than David, but I too wonder if David's not the best bet for that ride, as Todd hasn't excelled yet. Mind you, David had a short day at Dover...that's a hard track to start out on. I would have been very surprised if either Todd or David finished the race, let alone on the lead lap. I don't think Danny or Eric (Darnell) are really in the running for the 6 car for next season, although I believe they both have or will have Cup starts this season.

As for Danny, he's already got a full-time Busch ride...if Jack keeps him in that, eventually he'll be ready to move up to Cup. Whoever else doesn't end up in the 6 car will have a Truck or Busch ride, and that's nothing to sneeze at.

If Mark runs part-time in the 60 next year, even if he finds he misses the full-time Cup schedule and comes back in 2008 to the 60, which he has said he'd be open to doing if he finds out next season that full-time trucks and part-time Cup isn't enough for him, eventually that ride will be open to someone...Boris will expand his teams, perhaps that's even where Jack's 5th team will go by 2009, if not to RYR...so Boris can still run in another car, but Mark would be invaluable in that ride to get that team going.

I don't see any of the current Roush drivers moving on. Even Jamie McMurray, who admittedly hasn't had the season in the 26 that everyone hoped for, I think will eventually get going in the right direction. Jack was recently quoted that there will be changes in all teams except the 99 before next season, he feels Wally Brown (Carl's crew chief) is finally getting the hang of that CC thing, and the team has already changed this summer, a couple of the over-the-wall guys moved on, so Jack will leave that team alone to work on next season.

I wonder if Patt Tryson will be staying on as the 6 CC after this season, and the 26 team still needs some changes...much as I wish Bob Osborne would come back to the 99 team, Jack has said that won't be happening...and his quote was that all teams will be seeing some changes othe rthan the 99, and maybe the 17, which doesn't outwardly seem to need any tweaks...

I still say Jack needs to take his 4 young 'uns and let them share the 6 car next season. It's a cinch that no matter who of them is in the 6 car, it won't likely be in the Chase next season, so let them split the ride...the first 26 races in 4, then whoever Jack judges does the best in their segment of the season gets to run the final 10 races in the 6 in preparation for the full-time ride in 2007.

It's still going to be so hard seeing the 6 mid pack or worse every week. But I've been saying that since Mark first announced he was leaving.
