Schumacher to run Cup road courses? Rumors that Michael Schumacher has signed a $10 million deal to drive the two NASCAR road races at Sears Point (Infineon) and Watkins Glen in 2007 could not be substantiated at [autoextremist.com] launch time.(autoextremist.com)(10-26-2006)
Also picked this up on Jayski.com. When will it ever end Huh?? Also read that AJ.Allmendinger,Patrick Carpentier will go cup racing.J.Villeneuve(several Busch races),S.Wallace(handfull of races) and Paul Tracy signed a five year contract with Forsythe racing. He will run 10 Nextel Cup Races in "07".I guess the only question that I have is where are all of the Nascar regulars going to run? I know that someone has to go home, But I really hate to see guy's like Morgan Shepard Micheal Waltrip and other's go home. Maybe it's because I have watched these guy's race for so long.

Now that there is money to be made we will be seeing more of this type of crossover.  Lots of NASCAR fans believe that their driver is the best driver in the world, which is of course silly, but very soon it may not be so silly, if all the best keep coming to Cup.  JP Montoya joining over is going to bring awareness to even greater heights.

Remember, Tony Stewart won the Indy title in 1997, before coming to Cup.  There is an interesting story about Tony, by the way ( http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=ap-stewartiroc102606&prov=ap&type=lgns ).

If it's true that Michael Schumacher is going to race the road courses next year, NASCAR will have become truly international.

That's for sure.Don't get me wrong I love Nascar it's the best sport in my opinion. The first time I walked into Indianapolis Motor Speedway and seen an F-1 car go into turn one I was simply AMAZED to say the least. I would sit and watch it on TV and think what is all the hype it's not all that, But I was wrong. Jenson Button was going down the frontstretch and I honestly thought his brake's went out and then to my surprise he turned right. I was waiting for him to pop out the side of the car because of the G-FORCES. I look at F-1 racing totally different now. I am glad to see more open wheel drivers making the switch to the full bodied car's. The only thing that concern's me is where is Nascar going to put everyone LOL. It is going to get interesting.

I share in your concern over the number of teams.  It has already been a heartbreak to see teams go home every week, but now it looks like Morgan Shepherd and Derick Cope have raced for the last seasons.  Realistically, their dream is about dead.  There are going to be too many better funded teams out there now.  It will be hard enough for the Napa team to make the field next year.  Perhaps there will be slightly fewer wrecks, since there will be fewer lower caliber teams on the track though.

I really don't think increasing the number of cars on the track is a good idea.  It would make little difference to have 3 more cars on a track like Daytona, but it would be a big deal at Bristol or Martinsville.
