This is from a recent article on NOL, R. Hendrick talking about the COT...and Chevy switching to Impala

Meanwhile, a prototype of the Impala COT built by Hendrick Motorsports will be unveiled this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, multiple sources said.

It is the first step in phasing out the Monte Carlo, which has won more races than any model car in Cup history. General Motors has opted to switch to the Impala SS because it has become a bigger volume seller at the dealerships.

Oops! The cat is outta the bag now!  All this time they always insisted that the different little grill openings on the front were sooooooo important to the manufacturers Identity. They always said that it did matter and that what won on Sunday DID sell on Monday.

Guess that just aint true no more!   When's the last time an Impala was on the track?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY . . .

When I go to casinos, the most ridiculous sign I see is the one that says:
"If you have a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER."

So, I call them and say,
"I have an ace and a six. The dealer has a seven. What do I do?"

Since I own a 2002 Monte Carlo, that I only bought because I got a great deal,  part of the reason there's no "buy on Monday" with that car is because it's not very attractive.  Not only were the 2001 through the 2005's not that good looking from any angle, the 06 and 07 model looks even less attractive.  Kinda plain actually.  That coupe line, from the Lumina to the Monte Carlo, had that same general body profile since the early 90's when they switched the cars over to front wheel drive.

Of course, the Impala is no beauty either, but I'm convinced that the future of NASCAR is the ugly car anyway.  No need to upstage the sponsorships I guess.

Thanks for killing the Coupe GM!  I'll never buy a four-door again, so I guess that puts me in a Mustang or Solara.
