Cousin Carl gets pushed aside

I have to say that it was thrilling to watch Jeff move Carl out of the way as they did the restart yesterday. I don't see how anyone could be upset at what happened, other than Carl, and even he doesn't have room to complain. When it's that close to the end of the race you can't simply lay back and watch the front two cars pull away. Sure, they were in the sun, but that same sun was in the eyes of Jimmy and Kevin.
After what Carl did to Tony in Pocono, I really was surprised that Jeff didn't get a trunk full of Ford.
Anyway, I was wondering if all the Gordon bashers had anything bad to say about what happened or if they agree that Jeff did what he had to do. I'm really just teasing, but I am interested in hearing.

Smyler: Good question.
I will admit, I am a STAUNCH Hendrick fan, although I will call attention to Jeff's constant whinning, when he isn't winning or has something negative to say about NASCAR, officiating, or when he WANTS his own way. Don't misunderstand me, I like Jeff as a professional driver, but sometimes he irrates the heck out of me. It seems JG CAN DO KNOW WRONG when he's out their "chomping at the bit for position", if Jr. had of bumped him in a side by side situation, Christmas tree lights would have went off around the NASCAR nation, while Jeff climbs the tree to repair the angel of himself on top...just kidding!
Jeff wanted to make a point to Carl, they were were both raising hard, as some will say "that's the nature of the sport" and I concur in some cases.
Another situation, was Kyle Busch, I was so proud of him for stating the facts pertaining to Tony Stewart's actions which took out Kyle. It has to be so difficult on a driver, especially one in the chase who is taken out by the stupidity and actions of an out of the chase driver. Tony Stewart has claimed on many an interview "how he won't interfere with drivers involved in the chase"...I think TS should rewind his interviews he might surprise himself about what he learns....

Sigh.
Cangal, Cangal, Cangal.
I hear folks saying that there is no senior driver in the garage area who will stand up to NA$CAR, on safety--or any other--issues. I hear folks belly-ache about drivers being too bland and scripted and never showing any emotion.
I hear Jeff Gordon explicitly criticized for staying within his polished, non-controversial corporate image. Yet when Jeff does raise an issue with NA$CAR, as he has with the COT and traveling medical teams, or criticize other drivers, a self-described HMS fan call's it "whining."
So what's it gonna be?

Okay, I won't call it whinning...perhaps it's his NASAL voice that makes us HMS fans think he's whinning! Alright, I stand corrected on this one. If you also noticed, I praised Jeff in the area of his professional driving. I guess perhaps I didn't choose my words carefully by suggesting Jeff "whines." Sorry!!! Didn't mean to be offensive or indignate of Jeff's polished retorts.

Nobody, including JG himself, says that Jeff never whines. I think it is up to interpretation as to what part is whining and what part is making a valid point, though. In this case, Jeff certainly did not whine. He did his talking on the track and moved Carl out of the way. He wasn't being arrogant about it. He simply had no time to wait for Carl to rev his engine, make his shift or do whatever he needed to do. The 2 of them talked about it and I loved how it was explained by both of them.

Now, what would us fans have to complain about if the drivers didn't whine?

We don't use a U in color. Also, Technicolor is about 60 years old.
I see no reason for things to get snotty here. This is supposed to be a fun place to exchange ideas.

I don't know. After hearing what Kyle had to say I had a hard time blaming Tony for it. At first I though Tony just took Jamie out but after hearing what Kyle had to say I'm not blaming Tony anymore. I mean Kyle said Jamie moved up to pass a lap car and that the sun was really bad right there so it was hard to see. Both reasons point to it just being a racing deal. And Tony even said it was so hard to see with the sun going down that all he saw was Jamie darting across the track and by then it was to late to hit the brakes.

Strong opinions and loyalty are part of what makes NASCAR so fun. Some fans love their driver no matter what he does. I know that's (almost) how I feel about the half dozen or so drivers that I am a fan of.

Just another racin' deal as far as I'm concerned. If it had been anyone else not much would've been said...just Jeff and Carl are two of the more (not most) popular drivers in NASCAR so the media makes a big deal out of it. The media didn't have much else to whine about during the Kevin Harvick show so they had to create controversy to keep the brain dead fans interested. I'm a lot more curious/irate about the two "debris" cautions earlier in the race. Even Benny said "They didn't throw a caution for that, did they?" before NBC quickly went away to commercial and it became a mute matter. Wouldn't be surprised to hear NBC cancelled Benny's health insurance.

LOL. I hate to tell a Canadian to chill, Cangal. It's cold enough up there already (If God had meant people to live north of the Mason-Dixon, he would have left the fur on). But chill, honey, chill.
My comments weren't really aimed AT you. It seems we all do it. In fact, sometimes I think the word "whine" is a NA$CAR fan's favorite verb. And then, we turn around and--dare I say it?--"whine" that drivers are too bland. We really need to make up our minds.
