102 inches? That is 8.5 feet. The first post in this thread said the car was 5 inches too wide to fit in the hauler. Are you trying to tell me the COT is almost 9 feet WIDE? How. Uh hello? Something ain't adding up here................ I'll take a tape measure next week to Daytona and see just how wide a car is. A quick google didn't help but I'd bet my richard them puppies aren't anywere close to 8.5 feet wide............
Well now they did add 4-1/2 in to the COT. I'm kidding. I know on ASA cars and lower divisions the car is 79-1/2in wide. Thats the width between outer fender wells. I'm not sure if they are the same or not but if they are then that would make the COT 84in wide.

Yeah I know lol. I cover ARCA and they are nothing more than old Cup cars. I read the first post and having seen the cars go in the haulers with dudes fatter than me walking up and down the sides was a bit skeptical. Heck, Busch cars is I'm remembering correctly are (or used to be) about 5 inches wider than Cup cars. It used to be that Busch cars were wided, shorter and had less HP. I don't know what it is now but I think they made them more similar.......

I found this on Jayski.com.
COT Splitter won't need to be replaced if damaged: Teams will not need to replace the front splitter if it is broken off during a "car of tomorrow" race, NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby said Thursday. Darby said he expect teams will want to have a front splitter - a shelf that sits underneath the front valence to adjust front downforce - on the car, but it won't be a requirement. So just as in the past, a car with a sawed off front end following a crash could be on the track. "[The front splitter] won't be mandatory," Darby said. "But remember, it is a huge tuning tool. They're going to do everything they can do to make sure that they have a front splitter." Teams will have to replace the rear wing in the event it is damaged, just as they have to replace the rear spoiler on a current car.
This is the thing that get's me. Saying something like that is like playing with a loaded gun. I thought the Front Splitter HAD to be there or the car wouldn't drive right. During the preseason show Larry Mac said that the Splitter had to so far from here and no higher than this and NOW Darby say's they don't have to have it at ALL. Can you imagine if someone loses their Splitter and they end up winning the race. EVERY driver will be MAD about it and saying that so and so cheated cause his Splitter was gone. Or heck better yet he didn't even start the race with it. I think this is the FIRST GRAY AREA of the 2007 season LOL. Either ya have to have it or ya don't. I see where he says that after a crash they don't have to replace it but he says and I quote "It's not a Requirment or Mandatory". I see nothing but PROBLEMS.

Calm down Flammer , I think Darby was mixin his Meds..Baby ! Just as with the current Cup cars..no one is going to drive without the Front Splitter. Hell the car would not make it around the 1st corner..Man ! Zero Frontal down force. Same with the Rear Spoiler...Zero Rear downforce....pretty damm loooooose ! I cannot believe he would even bring that point up in coversation . Unless someone was concerned about a short track situation where Frontal Down force is not as imperative. But as I said , he is just pointing out that if a Team
..Duh..with Brain Damage , wished to re-enter the race without the front spliiter...it would be permitted. I can't wait till Bristol...all the Free Official Nascar Frisbee's (Splitters and Rear Wings)..hope they autograph them prior to calling ''GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES".....IT'S GOING TA BE A HOOT !
