OK, FS denizens.  What kind of racin' presents did y'all get for Christmas?

As a HMS fan, I got a some JJ stuff, including a decal for the car, a coffee mug, and a suitable-for-framing photo collage from Stadium Imaging showing the Championship celebration and shots from each of JJ's 2006 wins for my "NA$CAR room."

 http://store.stadiumimaging.com/index.html

I got Kenny Schrader's new book, "Gotta Race."

http://www.schraderracing.com/articles/BookReleasePR.html

I think Schrader is, hands down, the funniest guy in racing.  You've got people like "Herman the German" who is big-floppy-shoes-red-nose-rainbow-hair-and-beep-beep-horn funny, but Schrader has the driest wit in the garage.  The Awards Banquet hasn't been the same since Kenny stopped being a fixture in the top ten.  The book is a great read, a wonderful picture into the history of racing, and a hoot to boot.

And the best present I got was a picture of my youngest in the stands at the Bristol Busch night race a year back.  I love the home-made stuff like that.  One of the coolest Christmas presents I've ever gotten was that 1999 NA$CAR scrapbook my kids made for me.  That a car-shaped cardboard picture frame one kid made with a picture of two of my three girls with me at the South Boston truck race in 2001.

What loot did you guys get?

Holy cow!  Santa must have a web cam in the Round Room!

My post went up a little after 10:00 this morning and not a ONE of you have listed your presents?  Must have been a LOT of bituminous and birch passed out to THIS bunch!   Cheesy

I got lots of cool stuff....got Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives (2nd season of both), Ice Age, Ice Age 2 the Meltdown, Cars, some CDs, lots of scrapbooking stuff (boy am I going to have fun with that), a knife set (steak knives and kitchen knives)...and a beautiful crystal platter from my boss (in addition to the race tickets for TMS that he has given me since Xmas 2001...I haven't checked yet, but they look like they are close to the start/finish line in row 24...whew, can't wait).  And my other bosses (I have 4 attorneys I works for) gave me $200 in case, a $50 VISA gift card and a $25 JC Penney gift car.

Oh yea, and I bought myself a 1:24 scale diecast of Tony Raines' car that he drove at Texas in November (I know I'm a big KH fan, but I work for Texas Instruments).  If I ever find the power cord for my digital camera, I'll take a pic of it and post it).

As Andy Griffith would say.... Not narry a one...
I did get one oresent I look forward to getting every year...
Mom started getting me these Hallmark 'Son' ornaments way back MANY years ago. She gets me one EVERY year to add to my tree.  I think I first started getting them Halmark ornaments back in 1971..?? SO this was the 35+ ornaments I got.
Kinda cool to have a tradition like that.
Anyway I get one from her every year... And I look forward to it.  Mom is 71 now and always goes to the trouble to go out and get me one.  It means a lot to me.

I also got a couple shirts, sweaters, pictures in frames, and cashola.   Smiley
And various assorted other odds and ends... My girlfriends even got me some silly putty.  Shes a real fire cracker.
I pulled a good one on her.  First I kinda think I may have started my own tradition with her.  She LOVES to cook, and she is an AWESOME cook.  Hallmark has these series of 'cook' ornaments, and I got HER one for her tree this year,.. so far they have 8,.. so I see a 'tradition' brewing.
Also I slipped off and bought her a Opal ring. She had NO clue that was coming and was very pleased.
SHE did get a racing item.  She is NOT much of a race fan.  (go figure with all the things I have done and been involved with in racing,  Roll Eyes .. and I got a gal pal who never saw a lap of racing,.. and really don't care)
She said she would see about taking an interest since I was so interested in it,.. SO I bought her Liz Allisons book "A Gal's Guide To Nascar Racing"

GirlfriendS Wow, you're a busy guy Chris.

I didn't get diddly for xmas (yet).  My Mom told me she got us RC cars because she thought it would be fun to race them along the street in front of their house and in the park across the street.  But we didn't go out there because of the snow, not that RC cars would have done any good unless they were 4 wheel drive ones.

Today, I got an e-mail back from an auto stereo company here in LA that says they can help me get my christmas present, a Sirius receiver for my Sirius radio-ready car radio hooked up.

Now, this is actually a pretty simple procedure, generally...my brother tried to hook it all up for me at home, but we found out the hard way that Panasonic changed their Sirius receivers in 2006, so they are now compatible with only radios 2006 and newer...I bought mine in 2003. I bought it directly from Sirius, but I guess I missed the small print. The connection on the back of my radio is the wrong shape to fit the new receiver. To put it bluntly, you can't put a square peg in a round hole.

After several fruitless calls/e-mails to Panasonic, Sirius (both of whom couldn't even tell me what the problem was... Roll Eyes)I had to find out through Crutchfield, where I bought the radio, that the receiver was NOT "backwards compatible" with radios older than 2006...go figure...$125 Canadian wasted, looked like I was going to have to sell it on ebay for a loss...

But there's a company here in the LA area who says they think they can figure it out for me!! I'm headed over there this week...Hopefully I'll have Sirius radio in time for the New Year...I can't WAIT to listen to Smoke's radio show, among other NASCAR stuff.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Fingers crossed they really CAN get it working for me!!

We got a BBQ shaped like Dale Jr's car.  We saw them at the Budweiser brewery shop in St Louis this summer but passed them by because they were expensive.  Our son got it for us.  Can't wait to show up at the track campground with this.

We also bought for ourself a Nascar season pass on Direct TV.  Thirty-six races plus the Bud Shootout for $79.00.  Comes to less than 2.25 per race.  Should be really cool and we can watch one channel and tivo another.

Happy new year everyone.

I got a Carl Edwards dancing hampster from one friend (in response to my report that I gave mine to my niece...who wore out the Toronto Maple Leafs one her Dad let her play with...her Dad, the Dale Jr fan...LOL), and a Mark Martin t-shirt from my secret santa...I'm not really sure who that was, hence the "secret" part, but I had eyed this particular Mark shirt all season at the race track...either a mind reader, or a friend I've met at the track. Hmmm.

My wife is a big Cousin Carl fan and her birthday is coming up.  How does one go about getting a Carl Edwards dancing hampster?

Cookieman bought my son Patrick the "Tony Stewart vs. Dave Blaney slot car race set"!

Over 42 feet of race track!

Patrick loves it !

I think he's too young for it!

He keeps steping on the track and breaking the electrical curent!

So daddy has to reposition the track every day!   Angry Angry Angry

Each day a new track and new headaches!!!!!!!!!!   Angry Angry Angry

Try teaching a 5 year old about electrical wires and not to touch them!    Shocked Shocked Shocked
