Whatever it is that his team did with that manifold,  it must have been really bad...NASCAR has impounded the whole car until they get the test results back.  Shocked

I remember 2 years ago, Robby Gordon had an illegal manifold, and even though he missed the race, NASCAR still docked him 25 owner points from the few he had earned from his qualifying attempt.  I wonder what this infraction will be worth...

ROTFLMAO.

Speed just reported that NA$CAR has disallowed the times of the 17 & 9 cars for attempting to gain an "areodynamic advantage."  Kenseth and Kahne will start at the back of their 150s.  No word on further ramifications.

Now Jayski is reporting that it was the teams of Matt Kenseth and Casey Mears, NOT Kasey Kahne, that failed tech inspection.

But Speed definitely said "Kahne" and showed a clip of the "9" car.  The Speed report was by Bob "Bleeder Valve" Dilner.  Consider the source.

Looks like I owe Dilner an apology.  I just saw the NA$CAR announcement with Jim Hunter and saw the NA$CAR press release:

I'm wondering if they're going to suspend the crew chiefs like they did last year with Chad Knaus...

you DO owe Dilner an apology. He stands by what he reported as do the folks that 'leaked"  it to him (get the pun). But both parties know that bucking NASCAR will get you blackballed. Ever wonder why NASCAR issued their denials and then let it drop?

I've been wondering why those two crew chiefs are even still there, given that Jim Hunter has said repeatedly that the infractions are at least as serious as those found on the 48 car last year-Knaus got ejected immediately, I believe.  NASCAR loses credibility with their fans every time they make different punishments for similar infractions.

The thing that got me was DW saying, Now folks let's not get ahead of ourselve and say it's something and it turns out to be nothing. I would expect that from DW as I'm sure that he has a little ownership in the team. Every episode of the New Mikey show has DW in it at Mikeys shop. As for the Red/Yellow liquid, The only thing close to Red liquid would be Rear-End Grease and if it made it up there then Toyota may want to go back to the drawing board LOL.

My first thought was that it was some sort of wax, that would allow the engine to pass through inspection, but as it got hot, it would melt away. Maurice Petty did that when Richard got busted for improper tires and a big engine at Charlotte in 1983. Made the engine appear to meat the CID requirments through tech inspection. Wonder if something got sucked back up into the intake, or if they just did it in the mainfold.

Michael said it was "oil". Uh, okay. Oil usually smokes. And smells like oil.
