I was watching that new Nascar show on ESPN and they had an interview with K.Petty. They asked him about Bumpdrafting and his reply is, I think Nascar shoud either Fine or Suspend ANY driver that is caught Bumpdrafting. IMO if they start doing that then where will it ever end? Like I said in another post, If a driver who hated won the Daytona 500 I guarentee that they wouldn't be the Least little bit upset. I honestly can't believe that it came from K.Pettys mouth for the simple fact that he hasn't had a win in roughly 11 years and I'm sure he wouldn't be upset if someone Bumpdrafted him to a Victory at the Daytona500 and I don't think ANY driver would be mad. I mean sure thay can sit during an interview and say that they want nothing more than Safety but when it comes right down to it, A Win is a Win Bumpdraft or not. And could you imagine all of the fines and suspension's there would be LOL. They would be inviting drivers from other series to come and run the race because so many drivers suspended so they only have 35 cars entered in the race LMAO.

Remember, it was almost exactly a year ago that Tony said that if they didn't do something about the bump drafting that someone would die, soon.

I remember it well...Bro ! Then I beleive a few Races later he bumped someone into the wall or turned them around ! Its a tough game ths racing , and there is a fine line between precieved correct tactics and non-correct tactics . I have always been in favor of the Bump & Run..ever since I utilized it and had it used on myself. If a slower car (blocking) after a few nudges , refuses ta move over than , the Bump and run or as I utilized it Rub & Run is appropriate ! The Bump Drafting is the same..when used properly its ok , when in the corner or large packs of cars..its a No..No.Baby !

Tony didn't like bump drafting, but he had no problem running Jeff Gordon up into the wall, then running Matt Kenseth down into the infield, sending him sliding back up into on-comming traffic......then he turned the in-car camera away from him. I always find it funny that Tony always does that stuff, but the rest of the guys still like him.
As for Kyle's bump-drafting comment....it dosen't make much sense. I though NASCAR's move by softening the front of the cars by removing a lot of the bracing was sort of self-policing move. Maybe if the cars didn't have 75 less horsepower than a stock Shelby Mustang GT500, they'd be able to race accordingly, and not have to ram into eachother to pass one another.

This is what I mean, EVERY driver has used the Bump and Run sometime in the Past, Present, Or they will in the Future and that INCLUDES J.Gordon and M.Kenseth. The COT actually has Reguular size Roll-Bat Tubing as the Rear Bumper so I can only imagine what's going to happen when that car hits the Restrictor Plate Tracks. And if ya look at the front of the COT it looks pretty stout because of the curve in the nose. Nascar has tried the WickerBill and numerous different devices and I don't see them taking 75 Horsepower away for that simple fact that it will just slow everyone down. Nascar needs to do something to EACH individual car like letting each team use the nose to the Manufacturers Spec's.

and then went out and did almost everything he could to fulfill his own prophecy.
To simply say "bump drafting".....you have to put it into prospective of exactly what they are talking about.....bump drafting is one thing....slam drafting is another. I can't speak to which Kyle meant......but I do know in the last couple of years the bumps had been getting harder and harder. At some point there has to be a limit to whats acceptable.

I would just like to know WHY T.Stewarts name has to be brought up in everything that is BAD or WRONG. T.Stewart is NOT the only driver who does the Bump Drafting. Granted he does do it but when he does he usually does it well as most drivers do. I like Dale Jr but he is the one that caused the Crash during the Shootout by Bump Drafting in the Tri-Oval. And I was impressed by him apologizing for his mistake cause he didn't mean to do it. I remember back before Nascar had the race cars full of equipment and you could see everything so whenever they had an In-Car camera you could see each driver WAVING the driver behind them to come up and hit them. Every driver out there has either tried or they do Bump Draft and I'm sure they will continue to do so.

I don't want to get into a war about Tony Stewart, but anyone who has watched NASCAR for any period of time has seen Tony total a very large number of other peoples cars. One of the reasons I like Jeff Gordon is because when he moves someone out of the way he very rarely causes damage to the car. He is a master of bump and running... just ask Rusty. Tony seems to have little concern for how much sheet metal he destroys. Obviously, his driving style appeals to a lot of people.
Tony and Kyle seem to be good friends, so it doesn't seem to bother Kyle much. Of course, Kyle isn't that competitive so he doesn't see the wrath that someone racing Tony for position might get. I saw what Tony did to Clint and Carl at Pocono. Heck, we could list, literally, 30 times when things like that happen.
Finally, I do NOT fault Tony for driving with the style he has. He has been given a green light to do so. He actually very much emulates the styles of past drivers such as Dale Sr., A J Foyt and many others. If NASCAR really had any objections to bump drafting they would have done something about it by now. It's been happening for years. Face it, the reason a lot of people watch races is to see the wrecks. Everyone knows there is almost always a "big one" at Daytona or Talladega and it's why they pay so much money to be in the stands and wait for it to happen.

Good Post Smyler..the Key is Condone ! Yes I cannot understand why Nascar still continues to give only Lip Service to Rules that they Govern. They said no Bump Drafting within Corners....Junior , Johnson , Harvick , Martin...I don't care who does it ? Then Penalize them..Damm it ! They stipulated changes to the front & rear bumper to reduce the strength of the tubing to reduce or deter Slamp Drafting..but that's apparently not enough..get some testicles Brian and enforce what you preach..Eh !
P.S. I stand by my previous statement ..there was nothing wrong with what Tony did in the Shootout to Shrub Boy..that is competitive racing !

I've made up my mind not to let Tony's driving style be a main point of discussion this year. Keeping in mind what I said above, it's just how he drives and apparently what NASCAR wants. I have to wonder, if they didn't have someone like him, would NASCAR take some new driver aside and ask him to be "like" Dale Sr. was, on the track. Controversy does cause headlines.

Let's see, Ya say your not going to let his driving style be the point of your discussion this year and that you don't want to get into war about Stewart but yet you want to sit and Bad Mouth his driving style. I don't think it's fair for someone to take Jabs at a driver but not want to DISCUSS anything about him. I guess there were no Crashes, Bump Drfating, Or Rough Drivers BEFORE 1999, Yeah right. Tony Stewart has caused his share of crashes and so have ALOT of other drivers and that's why I can't understand why it is when Stewart moves someone WITHOUT crashing them people start running their mouth about him being a BAD driver. Ya want to know why people do this to Stewart, It's CONVENIENT for them. By no means is Stewart an ANGEL, but he doesn't cause ALL of the Wreck's. IMO if ya don't want to discuss a driver then why bring his name up?

How did Tony run Jeff into the wall when Jeff was on the inside of Tony and slid up into Tony and himself into the wall? You are the perfect example of a Tony basher. Turn things around to make Tony out to be the bad guy. Yeah I know his past has something to do with that but News Flash!! Not every accident that Tony is in is his fault. I'm not surprised that Tony's little bump on Kyle for the lead in the Shootout got more attention than Jr's bump draft on Sadler which caused a big wreck. Thats how it always has been. And you know what? I wouldn't want it any other way. Go ahead cont to bash Tony, cont to blame him for wrecks that haven't been his fault. While you guys do that I'll cont to be a loyal Smoke fan and I'll cont to cheer on all his race wins.

Alot of the danger in bump drafting is the morons that don't know when they can and when they can't do it. Any idiot on the street would tell you NEVER to bump draft in the corners.
