If you read my post, I specifically said that I wondered if Tony didn't exist, would they ask someone to drive like he does.  I didn't watch Tony when he drove Indy, so I don't know if he was as aggressive back then.  I'm sure someone else can tell me what his driving style was like 12 plus years ago.  Did NASCAR want him to be a bad boy?  Dunno.  Does it make them money to have controversy?  Of course it does.

As for bringing up things that happened in the past, I'm pretty sure that is all we can do because we can't yet look into the future.  The race I was referring to was the 2nd Pocono race, which wasn't that long ago.  The event I was referring to was a blaringly obvious attack.  Tony admitted he did it on purpose just because he was mad.  Not only did NASCAR do nothing about it but they penalized the driver Tony wrecked when that driver retaliated (at 55 MPH, not the 190 when Tony wrecked Carl).  If someone like JJ Yaley had done what Tony did, he would have been parked for at least one race.  Of course, that says a lot about NASCAR inconsistency in patrolling behavior and who they dole out favors to.  Tony knows he has a virtual free pass out there.  Apparently a lot of folks out there and on here like that.  That's fine, but let's not pretend the condition doesn't exist.

One thing I know is you can't pick a favorite driver and then only celebrate their glory but never notice their shortcomings.  I'm a nice guy, but I have my downsides too.  So do ALL of these drivers.  I have several guys that I root for because I've learned that having all of your hopes invested in just one will usually lead to disappointment.  I've heard that ratings for the races go way down whenever Dale Jr. has a wreck, as if their isn't still an event worth watching.  I don't understand that.  I mean, yeah, I understand the disappointment, but there is still a race going on.

All I know is that the topic here is about KP wanting fines for bump drafters and NASCAR doesn't seem to have a strong opinion about it.

The way Tony races right now is the same way he raced back in Open Wheel.

NASCAR did do something to Tony after that Pocono inccident. They held him for a lap and no lucky dog. He had to race his way back on the lead lap and he did. And you say Tony gets away with everything. How about Jeff Gordon? His car was an inch low!! And all he gets is to start 42nd. Big deal. It is Daytona. He can be in the lead in 20 laps.

I'm not talking about Tony, Jeff or anyone in particular here.  I just have to ask the question though: If a mechanical problem happens during a race or qualifying, do you honestly think the team should be penalized?  There is a distinct difference (according to John Darby) between cheating and mechanical failure.  Is it your contention that there is no such thing as mechanical failure and that it must be cheating?

I'll say this, that car sure didn't look broken as it was weaving in and out of traffic and finally taking the lead.  It just seems fishy to me how Jeff was complaining about his car all week long but than in the Dual race it was close to perfect.

I just can't figure out why people can't talk about his Win. When Stewart wins a race the first thing you hear is something Negative like what happened between he and Kyle Busch. Like I said it was the EXACT SAME THING that Jeffy Pooh did to Kurt Busch but have you seen or heard ANYONE on here talk about it, NO. And that's what I am talking about. I don't pretend that ANY of hie incidents do not exsist but the only time those Incidents are brought up is when he wins. I was simply refering to the post you made and said that you didn't want to waste the season by talking about him but it's ok to throw in a one liner about him and then leave.

As for a Mechanical Failure, Sure they happen and I DO NOT consider it cheating. The problem I had was when Nascar said that they don't think it was Intentional and I just can't figure out how they know this. The bigger question is how does ANYONE know if it was Intentional or not or if what EMS did was Intentionl but that's just it, Nobody knows so if Nascar is going to Penalize 1 Team them they should Penalize ALL of them.

I had no problem with Jeffy's win either..not even a rub an run...rather a high speed scrape...I doubt he even removed the wax of Kurt's bumper. As for Nascar's Mind Reading Ability..they must be pretty good..Eh !

funny....that's one of the main reasons he is no longer my favorite driver....

Only problem I ever had w/ a Smoke Fan was the one sitting directly in front of me at PHX a couple of years back...He had to stand up and put his arms (both of them and this was one HUUUUUGE BOY-5 short Tony's worth), in the air and point repeatedly to him from turn 4 right down to the end of THE FRONTSTRETCH into and through turn 1 (he even did it when Smoke was way over on the almost impossible to see backstretch). When your sitting up only 10-15 rows it is hard enough to see the cars below the fence/wall and when King Kong is standing before you it is impossible.

I bought him beer after beer hoping he would just pass out...He finally did actually, about 5 min's before the race ended.
