Jeff Averaged a 5.1 finish in the Chase, but Jimmie was just too much, with 4 wins and a average finish of 5th.

Well Flammer Dude ! Hope you put some money down on our sinch bet lol ! Jimmie took the money to the Bank  !  As probably everyone new he an Chad ran a very conservative race.I was rather surprised at how competitive the car was in qualifying , but then again it is safer up front !

Meendering named Bobby Labonte's new crew chief
November 26, 2007

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Petty Enterprises on Monday named Jeff Meendering as the new crew chief of the No. 43 Dodge driven by Bobby Labonte in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The 30-year-old Meendering spent the last 13 years with Hendrick Motorsports, where he spent the last 2 1/2 seasons as the car chief of Jeff Gordon's No. 24 Chevrolet.

"This is an opportunity to lead a team with the winning tradition of the 43 car and work for a legend in Richard Petty," Meendering said.

Meendering served as Gordon's interim crew chief for six races during the 2007 Nextel Cup season.

"We see Jeff as another very important piece in our process of growing Petty Enterprises back into a championship contending team," vice president of race operations Robbie Loomis said.

I hate to see anything that weakens the 24 team, but I love to see anything that will help the King, so I'm kind of torn here.  Best of luck to Jeff Meendering in any case.

Jeff won the championship first --- ten races later, Jimmie gets crowned.
So, I guess the first one to win can also be the first to lose.
To NASCAR, that makes sense.
But I'll be dad-gummed if those rules make any sense to me.
