That's good news...especially since that team seems to be finally hitting their stride over the last 6 races or so.  Pretty good truck race this afternoon if you ask me.  I was worried I wouldn't get it all, but my paranoia about setting the dvr to run 2 hours long just in case paid off Smiley

Ofcourse it was a good truck race. It's Martinsville! And a great story too. As I learn more and more about Scott Peters it's hard not to like the kid. It's not like he pushed Johnny out of a seat. Glad to see alot of drivers congratulate him on his first win.

Tough luck for Mike Skinner. He really didn't need that after so many strong runs. I thought Tayler Malsam would have a better result but....rats. Johnny Sauter battled all day to salvage some ROTY points. Great warm up for tomorrows race.

More news from the truck series. ARCA champion posed to enter CWTS next year. From Jayski:

Lofton looking toward Truck Series for 2010: Fresh off winning the 2009 ARCA Re/Max Series championship, Justin Lofton appears to be headed to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 2010. Lofton said Friday at Memphis Motorsports Park that he has sponsorship for a full Truck season through his family's Lofton Cattle company and associated vendors. Lofton had hoped to race in the Nationwide Series next season but doesn't have enough backing for a full season. "But I have it for the Truck series," Lofton said. "We've been talking to a couple Truck teams. I was really hoping to have something secured up this weekend, and I was planning on going to Martinsville originally. But it's kind of been postponed since I've been here." Lofton went to Memphis to serve as a backup for Roush Fenway Racing's Matt Kenseth in case Kenseth couldn't make it from Martinsville Speedway. Lofton said he hopes teams notice that Roush Fenway picked him, sparking future interest for a Nationwide ride. But the Truck series is the likely destination for Lofton. Lofton said he'll run the Truck schedule for one of three Toyota teams next year. Toyota and Triad Racing Development helped Lofton's team in ARCA this year.

I'm glad the truck series is getting an infusion of talent. But I read an article this week that interviewed Kyle Petty Jimmy spencer and Larry Mac. All three agreed that the sport is serious trouble when interviewing talent it's no longer about what you've done it's about what money can you bring.

I never blamed Timothy Peters for pushing Johnny out of his seat.  I was just mad at Red Horse Racing for dumping the defending champion.  It's not Timothy's fault...what was he supposed to do?  Say no to a team that could help him improve?  Hardly!  I was so happy to see him finally get his first win because he's been improving tremendously since they switched over to RHR.

As far as an infusion of talent in the Truck Series...we need that badly!  And we're going to have a new team in the series next year...Turner Motorsports.  They're actually debuting at Texas Motor Speedway with Scott Wimmer behind the wheel, and I can't wait to have another full time team in the series.  I don't expect them to be perfect straight out of the gate, but the company has been around for 10 years already.  They certainly have experience in running a race team, so they should be a great addition to the sport.

Welcom to this side Halcyon! But was about to tell you that holding the last post won't be held onto long, before Ol' Ty beat me to it.

I'll admit it that I rooted against Peters to do good in a seat that was JB's and Trip Bruces. I wonder how much of an advantage RHR had with Trip there for 4 months. I'll have to look into this turner motorsports. But glad to see a new full time team.

There is something to be said about the truck series, as in: Drivers are a hell of a lot more fun to cheer for. Hornaday and some of the other drivers are more old school and still have a personality that has not been stripped away by the sponsors. Yeehaa wreck'em boys.------LAST!---- Smiley

Crappy news from Talladega Truck series. Austin Dillon had his qualifying time disallowed and will not race on Saturday. The front of the truck was too low during post qualifying inspection. Speed did a great job during qualifying explaining how the truck could be to low.

The CWTS issues the rear shocks for the truck to be used all weekend. No adjustments allowed. The crew sets-up and installs thier own front shocks. To get the truck low on the track they set the bleed to a very low setting. This allows the truck to get down and stay down. The truck will adventually return to a "cold" hieght. Austin Dillions truck did not return to an allowable height in the time allowed.

On the bright side Steve Park did qualify and race on Saturday.

And I'll have to listen to it on Radio  Angry Angry Angry

First and foremost, welcome Halcyon Smiley  It'll be nice to have another opinion to add to our discussions.  I like our little corner over here because we pretty much avoid bickering.

I'll be DVRing the race because I'm working 11-9...boy do I love our DVR Smiley  And tomorrow night is going to be interesting because our mall is hosting a safe neighborhood trick or treating event from 4-7.  So not only will we be working with customers, but we're gonna have little ones all dressed up coming through for three hours.  By the time I get home Saturday night I may just want to wait until Sunday morning to watch the race.  Don't worry Doug...I'll stay away from this thread after the race until I get it watched.

I was so disappointed when I looked at qualifying results and saw that Austin Dillon didn't make the race...then I found out the reason.  I'm still quite disappointed, but understand why his time thrown out.  Way to go Speed for making a very clear explanation of how this happened.  I was actually looking forward to seeing Austin race, and I know this was one track he REALLY wanted to race at.

Steve Park....boy I've been looking forward to this race.  He barely made the field, but that doesn't matter as long as he's on the starting grid.  I'll be interested to see what strategies the team uses to try to work their way up in the field.  With all the start and park teams in the series right now (and whoever gets involved in the cautions), we can pretty much assume he'll finish inside the Top 25.

I'll also be keeping an eye on Mike and Chrissy Wallace.  So far dad ran a little quicker in practice but Chrissy was able to out run him in qualifying.  I know she'd like to be able to beat him this weekend.  Can you imagine the fun she would have picking on him if she did beat him this weekend?  After the way he ran last year at Dega, she's going to have her work cut out for her if she's going to be ahead of him at the finish.

And how about Mario Gosselin being second quickest in practice?  He came out of nowhere...but that's great since he's got his new sponsor for the first time this weekend.

I've been keeping an eye out for any information I can find out about Turner Motorsports.  Their page has been updated to show they're under construction, so there is at least a little information there.  I'm looking forward to seeing their debut next weekend.  Apparently the team has been around for 10 years and was actually originally based here in Texas...that explains them making their debut at TMS next weekend.  I'm not supposed to be writing a commentary next weekend, but I'm hoping to swap with Bryan so I can write a little more about the team to share with everyone.  Worst case, when I finish my research I'll at least come by and share it here Smiley

BTW...sorry I was so wordy...been out of sorts for most of the week, and I had to get caught up Wink

Also announced this week was that the CWTS in 2010 will have double file restarts and they will go back to be able to completing all service on the truck in one pit stop.

With that announcement something was posted that doesn't make alot of a sense to me. NASCAR is going to increse the # of people over the wall to 6 from 5 (for the current rules), but I count 7 needed for 4 tire stop.

Unless the new gas (with installed catchcan) does work and removes the neccesity for a catch can person. But that wasn't adressed in the release I read. so Huh? Huh? Huh?

Well good news bad news. I got to watch the truck race. And speed expalined that the new self venting fuel can will be used in the trucks series next year so a four tire stop only requires 6 people.

Speed did a great job with the costumes this year so much better than last year.

Bad News Truck broke down on the way to help a friend move. Truck is now in shop. You know it's not good when the service manager comes out and says yep it's broke I can smell it!
