So what you are saying is that your "joy" is dependent on if Jeff Gordon or Jiminy Johnson have a bad day? You must have very few "good" races then. Sorry that you feel free to express YOUR opinion yet nut up when I express mine. Life just sucks when someone points out the silliness we all exhibit from time to time. You opinionated? I didn't garner that from your posts, and if my heartfelt comment makes you NOT want to post I'm sorry. How about this. You still post and I'll just ignore anything you post since you aren't adult enough for social intercourse. I don't want to scare you into another name or "drive" you off. I'll just put you on the mindless idiot list if that's what you choose and not read much less reply to anything you say as you will be "offended". No prob. Sorry I hurt your little feelings by expressing my opinion.

I guess I just never got the whole "I'm happy if someone else is sad" thing. I've always been self confident enough that I believed my best efforts were never dependent on someone else's failures. I wanted MY challengers to be STRONG so the victory would mean more. I find I'm apparently in the minority, especially in NASCAR as I don't "hate" anyone. All 43 of those drivers that start every race for OUR entertainment are my hero's. I wish no ill will upon anyone. But I must say you epitomize what I consider the typical LilboyJr fan. I can be at the track taking a leak and I KNOW if Jeff Gordon has been introduced or wrecked by the  boo's or the cheers. I must say I personally have NEVER cheered a driver slamming a wall, nor booed a driver. To each their own I reckon. Whatever gives you enjoyment and in the end, that is what it is all about isn't it? Enjoyment? SO unless I hear from you differently I'll just put you on ignore. Sorry again I hurt your tender little feelings, I have a way of doing that I reckon. Shaky quit using that handle after he jumped on me for "offending" him. An apology just wasn't good enough for him. Is it for you?

Hey Bubba!!!!!

Settle down a little DUDE. Just about EVERY Nascar fan that I know has been watching a race where the driver they Dislike the most is about to take the Checkered Flag and they have that thought of them running out of Fuel or something Breaking. Cheer NEVER said ANYTHING about wanting to see someone Crash OR Get Hurt. I mean sure when falcon does his Fat Tony jokes I always reply with some SmartA$$ answer but IMO Personal Insults are a little MUCH, Don't ya think? You don't need to talk down to people, They are on your level to. To be Perfectly honest with ya, I can't believe I am the ONLY ONE thats said ANYTHING? Look, I'm really not trying to be JERK here but isn't the Frontstretch FORUM ALL about OPINIONS? That was her opinion and you can give your opinion but I just don't see a reason to get PERSONAL. I'll admit, You make ALOT of good points (not on this thread) about Nascar but just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean ya Insult them Personally. Heck if I got mad everytime someone said something about Stewart my life would suck pretty bad and SURE I've had my moments but IMO that's going a little far. I don't want to see ANYONE leave here and I don't think I am the only one who thinks that way.     Pleas send HATE mail to: LMAO why can't we ALL just get ALONG.

I have to admit that if one of my favorites goes out early, I am thinking end of season points and hope that something will happen to the guys at the front of the points, just so the points stay tight.  Having said that, I can't stand Kurt Busch, but let's say he was the point leader.  When I say "hope that something happens" I don't mean that I hope he breaks a leg.  What I mean is that I hope he gets a slow leak or loses an ignition box.  If it doesn't happen, no biggie.  It just makes the competition more exciting.  Look at how JJ has driven the past few years.  He has come back from some pretty big deficits, at times.

Part of the fun of watching racing, season by season, is keeping track of the points and the implications that small things can have.  Those who are new to racing don't know about the importance of not only watching what happens to your favorite but to all the other drivers as well.  The picture changes constantly.

I hope I am correct in saying that I think nobody would actually want true harm to come to another racer.  That is just sick.  We all love watching the crashes though.  It's exciting.  It can also make your heart sink.  Think last week with David R, or the week before with Clint Boyer.  Scarey stuff, but thank God nothing serious was wrong with either of them.

Finally, when a "fan" leaves a race early because their driver is out of it, I think one of a few things must be going through their mind.  Perhaps they are thinking about the traffic jam that is about to happen, so why not try and beat it.  Maybe for them the race is over.  I feel sad if that is their thinking, because, as stated above, there are still so many variables to settle.  Perhaps they leave early because of anger and impatience.  Whatever the reason, it's ok with me because it makes the ride home just that much easier because there are that many few caught in the gridlock.

You know the more I think about this, I just wanted to say that I find it Very hard to believe that I am the ONLY person on this forum to not get some kind of excitement out of seeing a driver I dislike being wrecked or have bad luck. I'm sure that there are a lot of Jr haters that were happy to see his luck so far this year. I mean come on let's get real here. And BTW my driver is very REAL!!!

Im right there with ya CFTB and Smoken. Im a Jr fan (since Sr left us), and am a pretty decent  Stewart, and most recently (last year) a big Denny Hamilin fan. I still watch even if my fav is out and i usually pull for one of the above or Mark Martin.

It usually makes my day to see an HMS car crash, drop out, screw up or run poorly no matter how my driver does. Why?? Cause I just dont like 'em!! (although i did kinda root a tad for Brian Vickers in his last year there)

Sweetie you think way too much of yourself....After talking to several people on this site yesterday, I kind of get what you are all about. First of all I never said I hated anyone. I've only been watching Nascar for 2 years, so I don't have your grand expertise. Sorry about that. IMO from what I've seen from Jeff Gordon, I don't like, and I'm so sorry you can't handle that. Don't worry you didn't hurt my feelings. You really just pissed me off, and as for Shocky, he was one of the first people I met on this board. A true class act!

Cheer don't worry...you're not the only one that gets happy when something happens to your not so favorite drivers (nope I'm not telling who I'd be happy to see stuff happen to on the track...just not going there).

And as for the references to other people on this board...KNOCK IT OFF!

Good Grief!  I watch the whole race.  I'm new to NASCAR, and there are things I don't like about it, but for the most part, I enjoy watching all the drivers, some are great, some try really hard and some, well, they should find another venue for their "need for speed."

Right now, I don't have a favorite driver, I kind of like Biffle, but he's not a real stand out.  I want them all to do well, and when someone has to leave the race because of a wreck, or a flat tire, or blown engine or whatever, I feel bad for them.

These drivers have a skill I don't have - yes, I'm sure I could driver around in circles and go fast - but they have the dedication and concentration, not to mention the backing that it takes to do their jobs.

I do have to admit that a wreck usually makes the watching more exciting, but it always freaks me out, because I don't want anyone to get hurt - but I'm the same way with football, speedboat races, hockey, or any other sport.

Anyway, I watch the complete race, especially now that I'm playing in a fantasy race - gotta see who come in where!

First of all I would like to say I would never wish for harm to come to and driver. I respect each and every one of them. They do great things with their foundations and causes. Some of you know that I found Jr by chance. I happened to be watching a special on tv about him, and I really liked and respected what I saw in him. It could have been any driver that got me started but it just happened to be him. I didn't really even know a whole lot about his dad. I am in the minority when it comes to a lot of you. I respect all of your opinions. I don't know all the history between all the drivers. I do learn from all of you.

No need to explain yourself Cheer. We all (or at least most) knew EXACTLY what ya meant and most of us feel the same way. I thought a little more about it and I have been to Sports Bar when Stewart gets Knocked out of the race because of an Engine or he ran out of Fuel and ALL (i mean ALL) of the Stewart HATERS started Clapping or yelling something like, Way to go Smoke. Here is an Example: Let's say that Stewart is leading a race and Dale Jr is in second and it's the last lap, OK. Now all of the sudden Stewart is out of gas and Jr passes him to take the Win, OK. Most of the time the Jr fan would be jumping up and down when that happened so how is that so wrong? I just can't picture a bunch of guys sitting around at the local Sports Bar and when the Rival driver runs out of gas they all say, AWWW I feel SOOOOO bad for him and they all start crying. The ONE thing that I have NEVER heard is someone say they would like to see ANY driver get HURT. I agree thats just sick. To be perfectly honest with ya, Cheer spoke for me because I have wanted to see a driver run out of gas or lose an Ignition box and to me there is NOTHING wrong with that. KEEP EM COMING CHEER, YOUR DOING A GREAT JOB and don't let ANYONE tell ya ANY different.

I think in every sport there is ,you want the other team to do bad because you want to win! You know where I live so I'm sure you know that I am surrounded by BROWNS fan everywhere and I can honestly say I don't care for them at all! I have been a BENGALS fan for as long as I can remember, and I have taken alot of crap bc of that, but just bc I don't love Cleveland doesn't mean that I want to see a player knocked out on the field or hurt, but that still won't keep me from wearnig my Cincy coat at a Browns home game sitting on their side with all of my Cleveland friends! We all have a great time and my husband hasn't divorced me after 25 years together for not liking his beloved team! LOL Grin Grin

I always find it sad when someones joy is dependant on another drivers bad luck. It's like saying, I KNOW my driver isn't good and will never succeed unless a REAL driver screws up............. just a thought.

Hey Bubba...I think your twisting the intent of the little Ladys Comment to suit your means..Bro ! I believe all she meant in her post , is she is not a HMS Fan and especially Jeff or Jimmy ! No Law against that as far as I recall. I really doubt that she intended to imply that she relishs the thought of Jeff or Jimmy having a Serious wreck and being Injured. I suspect you have been working too hard or have had a Bad Day ? Take a breather Bro..and Relax..Alls Good ! This Forum is filled with People of many ways of Life and personal beliefs and pleasures..why begrudge someone from enjoyment...as long as no one gets hurt...Right ! As Cheers indicated she is New to the Sport of Nascar and enjoys the ups and downs of the competition is all..No Biggy..!

P.S. Know wait till the next time Happy is posed ta pass Marky and watch me put a wammy on him....Baby !  Wink

There's nothing wrong with occasionally wishing that a driver you don't like (or one your driver needs to gain points on) has an engine failure on the pace laps.  Grin

Seriously, I would never want anyone to get hurt.  And, if my driver isn't going for the win, I tend to root for whichever of the drivers competing for the win that has annoyed me least in the recent past. And if they have annoyed me, then running out of gas, or having a battery stop working or something like that is just fine. Smiley

It's like any other sport in that there are teams (drivers) you like, and those you don't.  You're entitled to your own opinion. Smiley

You made a really good point Checkeredflag. It would be the same in any other sport, For Instance if the Quaterback throws a Hail Mary and you cross your fingers hoping the Wide Reciever either drops it or doesn't even catch it. Or in Baseball when all your favorite team needs is one more Strike to win the game and you are wanting a Swing and a Miss. What's the difference, None At All. It is EXACTLY the same thing because your hoping bad luck for the other team. I have been to alot of games and quite a few races and just about EVERY person there would tell ya the same thing. I will be the first to admit that when J.Gordons fuel pump went out I was loving every minute of it but I am also sure that when Stewart was caught speeding on Pit Road there were a few people who were loving that to and thats OK because it it Nascar.
