Going fast is a way of life for Brad Kesleowski. And thanks to Keselowski’s Race to Recovery, some others can experience going fast, too. Through his Checkered Flag Foundation, Keselowski has spent many hours visiting with disabled veterans and their families as well as injured police officers and others. Keselowski brings large groups to the racetrack, visits with them and treats them to some high-speed laps. Keselowski announced Friday that he will continue the program at several tracks, including Talladega, Richmond, Charlotte, Michigan, and Bristol. Keselowski’s truck team builds and maintains the cars he uses for the project.

The mission of the program is to inspire those who are recovering from injuries that they have sustained serving their country or community. Six people are chosen at each track for a three-day experience, and each can bring a “ crew chief,” the person who has inspired them the most. They will meet Keselowski and some of his teammates, enjoy the race weekend, and receive photos and video of their experience. 30 more veterans will be invited to enjoy one of the races each weekend in the Foundation’s suite.

“We had a lot of fun at the Race to Recovery events last year and I really look forward to spending time with some more of our nation’s heroes at our events this year,” Keselowski said. “I feel like those who were a part of the Race to Recovery program last year had a good time and that, to me, is the most important metric. The work they do and sacrifices they have made allow me to be able to come out here and do what I love to do every weekend—drive a race car, so I’m happy to give back in this small way.”
