Summer Bedgood · Thursday August 29, 2013

Early Wednesday morning, Bobby Labonte was involved in a cycling accident in which he sustained three broken ribs. After being transported by ambulance to the hospital and was subsequently diagnosed, the determination was made to keep Labonte overnight for observation.

As a result of the injuries, Labonte will miss the Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. Mike Bliss will drive the No. 51 Phoenix Racing entry in Labonte’s absence.

Labonte has competed in 22 of the 24 races this season. He is currently 31st in points with an average finish of 28.5.
