Wood Brothers No. 21 Air Force Ford F-150 Kansas Speedway Truck Race Summary

Monday April 28, 2008

Harrisburg, NC (April 28, 2008)- After qualifying the #21 Honey Buns Ford Fusion Sprint Cup car 12th in Talladega on Saturday April 26th, Jon Wood made his way to Kansas in plenty of time for the start of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250. Jon took the green flag in the rear of the 36 truck field since he was not present to practice or qualify the Wood Brothers Racing no. 21 truck. Even though Jon kept in close contact with the team from Talladega, he didn’t know what to expect out of the race truck since it was the first time in seat that weekend. However, within the first few laps, he moved up seven spots to the 29th position.

Jon radioed into the 21 crew commenting on the handling of the car. He said, “Guys, we have a good race truck here, I’m moving up.” The first caution flag flew on lap 27 and the U.S. Air Force Ford F-150 was scored in the 21st position. The Wood Brothers Racing pit crew brought Jon Wood down pit road for four tires and fuel, along with some chassis adjustments. A few laps later, Jon had to make an unscheduled pit stop for a left front tire going flat that put him back in the 35th position.

On lap 36, he had moved up to the 25th position when Stacy Compton in the #4 truck spun in front of him. As Jon tried to move to the bottom of the track to get around him, the #4 slid down the track and the two collided. The Wood Brothers Racing no. 21 had right rear damage that needed immediate repair. After several attempts of making laps and coming into the pit for repairs, he ended up several laps down from the leader. At that point, the once strong truck, succumbed to just running laps in order to finish the race. Wood completed the race and took the checkered flag in the 26th position.

The Wood Brothers Racing Ford F-150 will return to the race track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the North Carolina Education Lottery on Friday, May 16th
