Mike Skinner
Bill Davis Racing Event Preview
Race/Date: Power Stroke Diesel 200, presented by AAA Hoosier Insurance– July 25, 2008
Location: O’Reilly Raceway Park – Indianapolis
NOTES:
This week’s race truck for the event at O’Reilly Raceway Park is Chassis No. 5-76. This is the same truck Mike Skinner drove to a fifth place finish at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in May.
Calling the shots… Interim crew chief Joe Lax will again sit on top of the pit box this week. Lax most recently guided rookie Michael Annett to two wins and four top-10 finishes in five ARCA RE/MAX Series starts.
Former Winner… Skinner has two wins at the Indiana short track. The 1995 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion won the first two events at ORP from the pole position. Not only did he start and finish first in both races, he also led every lap. No other Craftsman Truck Series competitor has since matched that feat.
Showing his Talent… Skinner will head to Nashville, Tenn., to throw out the first pitch at Greer Stadium Monday, July 28. The Toyota Tundra driver will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Nashville Sounds game.
Listen and watch … The Power Stroke Diesel 200, presented by AAA Hoosier Insurance is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. EST Friday, July 25. It will broadcast on SPEED (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).
Bill Davis Racing Quotes:
Mike Skinner on Racing at the O’Reilly Raceway Park:
“I seemed to have the most dominant truck in the field the first two times we went to ORP. I think the trucks are a lot more aero dependent now than they were back in the early days. The tires and chassis have changed so much, and the level of competition gets higher and higher each year.
“I think IRP fits my driving style. I love short tracks. I like them much more than the 1.5-mile tracks. Our program is awesome on those tracks, and I am just OK on them. I feel like I am a better short track racer. Our short track program has come a long way, but we have some room for improvement. But my guys are working extremely hard to make it the best program in the garage.”
