Ricky Carmichael NCWTS Kentucky Pre-Race Report

Tuesday August 31, 2010

PREVIEW: RICKY CARMICHAEL (NO. 4 MONSTER ENERGY CHEVROLET)

VENUE:  KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY (1.5-MILE OVAL)

CIRCUIT: NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES (RACE 18 of 25)

EVENT: BUILT FORD TOUGH 225 (150 LAPS, 225 MILES)

DATE: SEPTEMBER 3, 2010

CARMICHAEL AT KENTUCKY: Ricky Carmichael scored his highest finish of 2009 at Kentucky Speedway by qualifying in the third position and finishing in seventh.

CARMICHAEL ON TRUCKS: Carmichael’s last race came Chicagoland Speedway, where he finished in the 28th-position after an engine failure on his Monster Energy Chevrolet.  So far this season, Carmichael has scored one top-five and three top-10 finishes.

CARMICHAEL ON COMPETING AT KENTUCKY:  “I can’t wait to get to Kentucky.  I got my highest finish of the year last year there and was just a couple hundredths off of qualifying on the pole, so it’s nice to go back to a track where I know I’ve had some success and I feel comfortable.  The truck was great last weekend at Chicago until we had our engine problem, so I think it will be strong again this weekend.”

BEHIND THE WHEEL: Crew chief Doug Randolph has chosen chassis No.13 for Carmichael to pilot at Kentucky Speedway. This chassis was brand new at Chicagoland Speedway and will be making its second appearance on-track.

TEE OFF FOR A GREAT CAUSE:  Ricky will be hosting his second annual charity golf tournament on Monday, September 13thin Tallahassee, Fla., to support ECHO, a local non-profit organization that supports homeless families in the Tallahassee-area with food, clothing, job training and even housing assistance.  Last year, Carmichael’s tournament raised enough money to be the organization’s largest contributor, and he hopes to do the same again in 2010.  For more information, visit http://www.echotally.org/echoevents.cfm

RIDING WITH RICKY:  The Monster Energy Chevrolet will be hosting two associate sponsors this weekend in Kentucky – Thornton’s convenience stores and Remke Bigg’s grocery stores.

HIT THE POLLS:  It’s time for NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver fan vote!  Carmichael won the award last season and is hoping his fans will help him win a repeat.  Go to NASCAR.com (http://www.nascar.com/news/features/2010.truck.mpd/index.html) to cast your votes today.
