Fantasy Insight: Talladega 2 (Better Lucky Then Good)

Dennis Michelsen · Wednesday September 28, 2005

Come Sunday afternoon, Sweet Home Alabama will be ringing in our ears! Restrictor plates will strangle the motors, keeping them to a weird freight train roar. The screeching of tires and the crunching of metal will accompany the inevitable "Big One." Many hopes and dreams of championship glory will be carted off the track, along with the broken down cars.

Such is Talladega in all its glory. It might not be racing the way it ought to be, but it is one of the most remarkable spectacles in sport! This is one race when it is better to be lucky than good!

Fearless Forecast

Top Pick

Jeff Gordon

If this team could win one the rest of the season, this would be the place.

Strong Picks

Mark Martin
Mr. Consistency is the only driver in this year’s Chase to have won here, although he hates plate racing.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Running better since being reunited with Tony Eury, Jr.

Jimmie Johnson
This team is capable of getting on an incredible run like they did in 2004.

Hunch Bet

Michael Waltrip
One more plate win before leaving DEI?

Longshot Bet

Joe Nemechek (50-1)
Nemechek wins here in the Busch Series, and MB2 and gets those strong Hendrick motors. You never know…
