Making the Grade : Kansas (The Wizards of Roush)

Dennis Michelsen · Monday October 10, 2005

Pace Laps

Always a good choice to let one of our brave servicemen or women give the command to start engines, instead of some pampered Hollywood star!

Recessional Gene is a recording studio? It must be owned by the Bodines!

Race Grade: B

This was an average race, but being a Martin fan, I am biased, and therefore raise this race a full letter grade!

F for Ryan Newman’s Luck

The team helped make its own bad luck with the transmission problem that sent them to the back. But a few more feet of space on the track, and Ryan would have avoided disaster.

D for Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Looked like a rookie mistake, drifting up and spinning Brandon Ash.

C for Ken Schrader

He had a solid "B" going until the late going, when he fell back out of The top 10. This is a classic case of a driver outracing his equipment every week!

B for Tony Stewart

Despite the contrived
"Chase" format, it is still Tony’s championship to lose. Once again Stewart showed why he is the true champion of the 2005 season, coming back from adversity to score another top finish.

A for Mark Martin

Another feel good story for the 2005 season! Did anyone deserve a win this year any more than Mark Martin? It took pit strategy to get his car to the front, but no one is tougher when they get the lead than Martin!
