Making the Grade : Lowe's Fall Race (Wear It Out Saturday, Never Buy It On Monday)
Dennis Michelsen · Monday October 17, 2005
Pace Laps
That was the best pre-race show of the year…NONE!
NBC was lucky that Notre Dame/USC game didn’t go to overtime, or NASCAR fans would have revolted!
F for NASCAR, Goodyear, and Lowes Speedway
Plenty of blame to go around for that fiasco that masqueraded as a NASCAR race. Most of all, Goodyear gets the lion’s share of the credit, since they have had other tire issues this season. It is lucky for everyone that no one got hurt!
D for Dennis Michelsen and Fantasy Insight
I said that Humpy would get it fixed, and we would have a better race. If anyone is deserving of a bad grade for a prediction, I am the first in line!
C for NBC Coverage
They seemed unprepared for the race, especially in the beginning. Maybe that is what happens when management tells you in the newspaper that you won’t be needed after the 2006 season!
B for Mark Martin
Another strong finish kept Mark in the hunt for that elusive title. Now he has a chance to win at Martinsville, and some excellent tracks ahead beyond that for him to catch Johnson and Stewart.
A for Jimmie Johnson
This was a classic case of a team overcoming adversity to get the job done. Four straight wins under a variety of rules conditions is proof positive that this track is named right!
