Busch Making the Grade- Texas Motor Speedway

Pace Laps
Fox TV video looked all messed up Saturday. I thought I was playing a video game instead of watching racing!

Was it just me or did John Hunter Nemechek look comfy on top of the pit box? We keep seeing drivers getting younger and younger, so why not a 2nd grader as Crew Chief?

F for Stanton Barrett
Down a lap he was a rolling road block most of the day. The worst of his moves was booting Tony Stewart to bring out the first caution of the day.

D for Shane Hmiel
Shane had a strong “B” effort going until late in the day. Drivers were having problems getting off of turn two all day. Hmiel tried to force things three-wide to make a pass and ran out of talent at the same time he ran out of race track.

C for Denny Hamlin
In contrast to Hmiel’s performance, Denny Hamlin is not driving like a rookie. Hamlin stayed out of trouble all day and came home with a lead lap finish and a 14th place result.

B for Reed Sorenson
Sometimes a kid shows early and often why he is going to be a good one! Sorenson has been very impressive and should be a leading contender for Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year next season.

A for Kasey Kahne
Bad luck has kept Kahne out of Victory Lane so far in the Cup series, but once again he proved he has incredible talent by winning on one of NASCAR’s toughest and fastest tracks. Using the so-called “Harry Gant” line, Kasey was impressive.
