Best of the West-Fantasy Insight

Best of the West-Fantasy Insight
Phoenix International Speedway
This is one track on the NASCAR circuit that deserved a second date for two reasons. First, the fans have always supported the racing here and should be rewarded. Second, the racing itself is fantastic! If you have never been to Phoenix International Raceway I suggest you put it on your short list of tracks to visit soon. Located out in the rugged Wild Wild West country, this place is not quite an oval and of course not a road course either. Perhaps calling it a “Roval” is more accurate. Crew Chiefs fight to get the balance close so their driver can handle the uniquely different turns. This place favors the guys that can drive the car right to the edge and back; while of course taking good car of their tires. For the fans there is plenty of room for RVs and a ton of low cost motel rooms within a 45-minute drive…even on a race weekend! Check out PIR for some of the best hospitality and racing that you can find out west. As far as who to pick this week…this will be a tough one with the racing under the lights for the very first time. But when in doubt this year putting your hard earned green backs firmly behind one of the Roush-kateers seems to be a wise move.

Week 7 of Last One Standing is in the books!

Check out for rules and to see how your team is doing! (Deadline each week is 5pm EST Saturday if the Cup race is on Sunday and 5pm EST Friday if the race is on a Saturday)

Handicapping the Race

Top Pick (3rd Last Week; 2 for 7 for Season, Expect Top 5)
Mark Martin- Mr. Consistency fell back in the late going last week, look for him to rebound with a win under the lights with a cool new paint scheme! (14-1 Odds)

Strong Picks (7th, 20th, 28th Last Week; 10 for 21 for Season, Expect Top 10)
Ryan Newman- Tops the Power Rating chart this week and it is always a good bet to go with a driver whose Power Rating is rising (8-1 Odds)

Kurt Busch- Expecting big things from Roush again this week (12-1 Odds)

Greg Biffle- On a good roll and has won here in Busch and Trucks (12-1 Odds)

Hunch Bet (35th Last Week; 3 for 7 for Season, Expect Top 10)
Kevin Harvick- Two truck wins here…he loves this track (16-1 Odds)

Longshot (10th Last Week; 2 for 7 for Season, Expect Top 15)
Jeff Burton- Shares the most wins here with Dale Earnhardt Jr and is a HUGE overlay at 30-1
