You Call That a Race? - Making the Grade

Dennis Michelsen · Monday July 25, 2005

Pace Laps

Couldn’t we have gotten the OTHER Senator from the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as the Grand Marshal? Instead, we get a guy that takes a donation from AccuWeather, and then pushes a bill that wants to limit what the Weather Service can post online. Just seems like a little conflict of intetest there, Mr. Senator!

And why can’t NBC/TNT give us more info on guys that pit on green with a problem? Surely they can have someone watching the entrance to the pits!

Race Grade D

Oh sure, the ending had some intriguing moments, but otherwise this race was boring with a capital "B" which earns it a "D".

F for Sacks Motorsports

Grabbing last place prize money when other teams came prepared to race is a disgrace! Brake problems after just five laps? Give me a break!

D for Pocono Raceway

If you went through all that trouble to remove the rumble strips, why not fix the bumps in turn two while you were at it? You just gave NASCAR two good reasons to move one of your races to Kentucky…two BORING races!

C for Jason Leffler

The rumors about who will take over the 11 car must be weighing on Leffler more and more every week. But despite all of that in the background, Jason stayed out of trouble and got a decent result on a track that doesn’t suit his driving ability.

B for Mark Martin

Mr. Consistency showed again why he is one of the best to ever race in the Cup series. Mark’s quote was priceless when he said, "Maybe if I had 20 more years of racing in me, I would be able to get a win here."

A for Kurt Busch

Championship form has been regained by the series’ defending champion. Not only did Kurt have the most dominant car all day, but he also showed alot of poise rallying from trouble in the pits. Look out for this guy to get hot at just the right time!
