The Frontstretch Foto Funnies! Daytona, February 2011

Kurt Smith · Tuesday February 22, 2011

Editor’s Note: The Foto Funnies are back for 2011! Every Wednesday, Kurt Smith takes a handful of pictures from the last NASCAR race and tells us what “really” happened in those Kodak moments. This time, we take a look at some highlights from a wild weekend at Daytona!

The big Daytona payday couldn’t have come at a better time, after the team sent Trevor Bayne to write a check and autograph souvenirs for “Tex,” the bad debt collector.

Long after retiring from racing, modesty still forbids Richard Petty from revealing the real reason they call him “The King.”

The celebration finally began after a furious search for a program to find out who was driving the No. 21.

Despite Brian France’s best efforts, he was unable to convince the sanctioning body that, “We’ve got the photo we need… just black out the race!”
