Budweiser Joins Chip Ganassi Racing and Graham Rahal for 2012 Indianapolis 500

King of Beers Joins Sponsorship Lineup on Graham Rahal’s No.38 Service Central Honda
 
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 16, 2012) – Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing (SCCGR) announced today a partnership with Budweiser that will see the King of Beers’ logo on Graham Rahal’s No.38 Service Central Honda during the month of May at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), culminating in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 27 (12:00 noon. ET, ABC).
 
Budweiser will have billboards throughout the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area to activate the partnership, as well as point of sale and personal appearances by Rahal over the course of the month.
 
NOTES OF INTEREST:
 
  • Budweiser Returns to 500 and Ganassi:  The Budweiser brand returns to the Indianapolis 500 and Ganassi after last partnering with Chip Ganassi Racing at the Brickyard as part of Juan Pablo Montoya’s dominating 2000 victory. 
 
  • Budweiser and the Rahal’s at Indianapolis:  Graham, the youngest race winner in IZOD IndyCar Series history, will be competing in his second Indianapolis 500 in 2012 for SCCGR, which marks his fifth start overall.  He is the son on of 1986 Indianapolis 500 Winner and three-time CART Champion Bobby Rahal, who won the 70th edition of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing in a Budweiser-sponsored car.  In last year’s race, Graham started 29th and gained 26 positions to finish third, marking the greatest position advancement of any driver in the famed event.
 
  • Ganassi’s IMS Glory:  Ganassi’s history at IMS over the years includes four wins as a team owner in the Indianapolis 500 (1989, 2000, 2008 and 2010) in addition to winning the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Brickyard 400.  He was also named Rookie of the Year as a driver in the 1983 Indianapolis 500.
