TweetVoices From the Heartland: Thanks for another great year!
Jeff Meyer · Wednesday November 23, 2005
Well, we’ve made through another year in NASCAR. Tony Stewart is (thankfully) replacing Kurt Busch as Champion and I can stop worrying about what to write about for awhile!
While I do love stock car racing, it does get a bit depressing toward the end of a 36 week schedule when there is nothing good to write about how NASCAR is run. It is so much about marketing and making money for the France family that it almost makes me ill. I wish it was still about the racing.
Having said that, I do want to give credit to those who make me get off my duff and try to write each and every week. By ‘those’, I mean YOU! Yes, you who are sitting at your computer this very moment reading these very words!
As I am apt to mention in my weekly column, we writers here at Frontstretch.com do not get paid for our contributions. (I don’t anyway. The others better not!) I have been with Frontstretch for 2 full years now, and I can honestly tell you that, for me, the motivation to author this column each week comes from each and every one of you.
The response and reception that you all have given me is, at times, overwhelming! I THANK YOU!
Whether we agree or not on any given topic does not matter. I may make you fume or I may make you pee your pants. What matters is that I don’t want to let you down. Your loyal patronage of this column and this entire site is worth more to me than any money. (Ok, let’s be totally honest here! I’ve been writing for awhile now, so I must LIKE to do it. On the other hand, to make a living at it would be great too! Where’s the France’s marketing people when you need them?!)
I plan on being here again next year, even if the salary is the same. During the off season, Voices will not be weekly, but instead, every two weeks. It IS deer and pheasant season around here ya know! If you really need a Voices fix, use the drop down menu in the ‘browse’ box (upper right hand corner of page) and make your selection! All your favorite Frontstretch authors are listed, and it is really quite fun to start at the first of the year and reread all that has taken place during 2005!
In the meantime, I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you again!!! I hope you ALL have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!!
You are truly appreciated.
Stay off the wall,
Jeff
